"It does not stop you catching it, its trying to stop your body from replicating enough of it to pass to another person and cause a potenially serious disease that requires hospitalisation " Apparently you can still get it and importantly, you can still pass it on. However, you may not get the worst of the symptoms.

"They have lots of data that the vaccine works - it wasn't made in the back kitchen of 10 Downing Street lol. It has had: Phase I Phase II Phase III Studies. Then the data is sent to: Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency - MHRA) or European regulator (European Medicines Agency - EMA). At this stage the regulators check that the trials show that the product meets the necessary. Then it has: Phase IV studies – post-marketing surveillance in-use studies. And read compersion above. " Is that in line with the manufacturers recommendation or the government's?

"And as Tables go we are at Number 3 in the World for Vax's done. Though more of a race than a competition. " It's great, but (and I think we all accept) we now need to ramp up. The quicker we can DOUBLE jab everyone the better, yes?

"How could a vaccine of been developed for a virus/illness/disease that has never been quantified/iscolated/identified, and was publicly declared unavailable for analysis ? Source: CDC" This is bollocks and has been addressed a thousand times over in this forum. Stop perpetuating social media nonsense

"1 Million vaccinations already done in the UK so far - and the roll-out of the Oxford Vaccine begins tomorrow (over half a million jabs delivered to centers). I think we are doing well so far. " CORRECTION: we 'were' doing well. Until the government and chief medical officers of each of the four nations decided they would be pseudo scientists and choose to delay the booster shot for these 'guinea pigs' by 9 weeks. Completely going against what the MHRA licence was for (two injections, 3 weeks apart) This despite Pfizer saying “Data from the phase 3 study demonstrated that, although partial protection from the vaccine appears to begin as early as 12 days after the first dose, two doses of the vaccine are required to provide the maximum protection against the disease, a vaccine efficacy of 95%. There are no data to demonstrate that protection after the first dose is sustained after 21 days,” Makes me soooo angry!

"Does the thing even Work On the tv other day Boris and his Scientist had to answer some Questions One was if my gran had it and other family members could we still meet Answer was No coz wasn’t sure if could still infect them So my question is what is the big thing about the vaccine if they got no Data on if it’s effective or Not... Last thing the flu vaccine has parts of flu virus so does the covid vaccine so your body could build an immune system..." It takes two weeks to START developing an immune response.

"My parents get their second dose of the Pfizer vaccine on Sunday. One week later they should have 97% immunity. But no one has told them what this actually means. Will they be able to stop shielding and see their grandchildren ? " Perhaps they need to ask the nurse who is vaccinating them or their GP that question and you can update us here? I'm sure it would help people on here too if you did. X

"There are about 29 different vaccines currently either in use or undergoing trials around the world. The main ones you hear about in the news are the Pfizer, Modena and Oxford AstraZenica ones. Currently seeking Emergency FDA approval in the US is a Johnson & Johnson (produced by a its subsidiary Jensen). The UK government have ordered 20 million of this... If I remember correctly. This is a one shot vaccine that only needs to be stored between 2 - 8 degrees centigrade. It is also different to the above approved vaccines as it uses DNA to target an immune response.... Anti vaxxers will have a field day over this one. Though this technology has been used in vaccines for the Zika and Ebola viruses. " The Janssen vaccine is using almost exactly the same approach as the Oxford one - a modified adenovirus with the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein gene inserted. They're testing a one dose regime rather than two. Otherwise, it's pretty much the same as Oxford, so no reason to be concerned about the vaccine design.

Source: CDC I'm not a scientist, virologist, couldn't tell a bacteria from a virus but the quote from the CDC is almost verbatim to what I said in answer to friends and family as to why I will not be taking any vaccine. " That initial claim, which is meaningless, has been propagated as propaganda, to frighten people. The virus is fully quantified, its genome is known and thousands of its presence in people who are infected have been isolated, which is how we've managed to track its mutations, including the so-called new UK variant. Shared global databases exist that catalogue the many known variants. The propaganda posts have become memes on fbook and other public spaces, including Fab - it cropped up as a new thread last week, for example. They usually are of the ilk of 'I made a Freedom of Information request to the Republic of Ireland/UK government, to confirm that they had an isolated sample of the virus... They refused my request, as they say they don't have it...' Bacteria will have been isolated this way, as it's been standard since the late 1800s, when viruses were not then known of, let alone understood. Viruses are very different from bacteria, so processes are different and research processes have changed a lot in the 150 years or so, since the time when bacterial research was being developed and cell isolation was seen as appropriate. In short, as viruses are not cellular bodies with similarity to bacteria, potentially not even recognised as living organisms, as bacteria are, we would need to evaluate them very differently. Appropriate scientifically accurate requests to responsible bodies, will be able to receive full and applicable responses.

" As it stands at the moment nothing changes. You still have to do everything the same as you would with no vaccine. So what is the point of being vaccinated if you still have to shield ?" Vaccinated means the symptoms will be less if you catch the virus. Shielding, social distancing and all restrictions still remain always after vaccination

" As it stands at the moment nothing changes. You still have to do everything the same as you would with no vaccine. So what is the point of being vaccinated if you still have to shield ?" To reduce the chances of getting seriously ill/dying of SARS-CoV-2 infection. When enough people are vaccinated, rates of infection will decrease as it is people with symptoms who drive spread, on the whole. Vaccination isn't a golden bullet. Look how long it took to eradicate smallpox via vaccination.
