No point. Fab sanctions it by allowing status updates to be used for meeting.

I'm inclined to agree with you here. I'm staggered that the site has a well meaning banner, but allows posts that blatantly look for intimate meetings to remain up.

"No point. Fab sanctions it by allowing status updates to be used for meeting. "

It's so good to see regular forum contributors like youself standing up and calling out this issue

Fab need to remove the status update feature from ALL users users until this pandemic is under control.

If Fab Admin remove Status Updates as an option then in one fell swoop they will remove the option for those looking to meet to a, to advertise hosting meets and advertising their desire to meet to all the people geographically local to them.

I challenge anyone to put almost any UK postcode as your location then check the local updates (relevant to the current postcode) to see all the sex meet requests.

By doing that you will soon see just how widespread and the sheer number of people using this facility to meet.

You then only have to see the volume of "cam veris" describing physical sex meet ups that have recently happened to know that many using the status updates to find meets were clearly successful.

Will it stop all meets no but it will make a significant difference at a time when the country is on a knife edge with infection rates.

The amount of messages I've received from those meeting who are furious at me because I'm asking for this feature to to be disabled for now shows just how much the rely on it.

I imagine admin have indeed considered your point, but net result would be people just use the profile headline or even (as some do already) the profile description wording to achieve the same result.

So to stop that you’d have to lockdown profiles and new users, which would be unworkable in practical terms for running the site / new users etc.

Part of the site revenue model is for traffic (due to ads viewed etc), together with subscriptions This would dry up and the site could fold.

So, it’s probably a case of ethics vs revenue.

Admin have ‘done the right thing’ in limiting the meet sections, but one step further policing members actions could spell commercial failure.

How would you know they are meeting?

Surely they have no idea until these statuses are reported though?! I don't think they have someone just flicking from profile to profile, checking status updates

Yes please

Take no notice of the people who say nothing is done, it is, I will paste onto the next post what options Admin use for rule breaking, including Covid rules.

Here is an explanation from Admin from another thread on how they deal with reports.

******Just a quick note. If people report others and we can verify that they have broken site rules, we always take action (either a first and final warning, partially suspended account, fully suspended, mixture of the above).

Every single report sent via the REPORT link is reviewed. Clearly it's not in our interests to have people on here who are bad for the site. Equally we need to verify what has been reported and be fair to those who have been reported.

Admin

PS. we never provide feedback on what has happened. It's just not practical given that we get 100s of reports a day.

Here is what the page says after a report has been submitted:

--

Your feedback has been saved.

A website admin will shortly review your feedback and take the necessary action. After reviewing the evidence available to us, we may disable an account, remove a user, disable certain aspects of that user's account or issue a warning.

By leaving feedback you help improve the site for everyone who uses it. Thank you.******
