Some people appear unable to act like adults on Fab though so they need a helping hand. Disabling the "status update" function on Fab until things get back to normal (or whatever the new normal will be) would make it harder for people to arrange meets for starters.

Thousands of people are dying. I think that's good enough justification for being concerned about others breaking the rules.

As others have said ... why the hell is it Fab’s fault. They have put measures in place to stop meets being arranged, but when grown adults choose to behave like irresponsible morons and try to meet ... it is their fault!

People are getting around the "meet" section being disabled by using the "status updates" section to advertise for meets. If that gets disabled until we're at a point where meeting again is safe, then it takes away lines of communication for those wanting to break the rules.

Will it stop everyone? No, but it's an additional deterrent. The only way for people to then arrange meets on here is by direct message which is more likely to see them reported by people who don't want to meet.

I'm sure most people on here can live without someone on their updates feed telling them how happy they are that their new pics have reached a thousand "Fabs" if it means the number of meets happening drops.

Fab is a business and has a difficult task in deciding where to draw the line on corporate responsibilities

I do, however, feel that they don't go far enough in controlling things

To me, put a status up requesting a meet and run the risk of losing both status & messaging capabilities for a month

Closer management of IP addresses could go some way to filtering out those that just set up an alternate account

All that said, as responsible users, we should also be reporting and blocking accounts that advertise for meets

I saw at least 15 meet statuses on the night of the 29th, mostly men, but some women & couples too - all thinking going into T4 meant they couldn't shag and totally missing the point that they shouldn't be shagging randoms right now, regardless of tier

Indeed this is so true

A couple aged 81 and 82 broke the rules and hugged their 6 grand children xmas day

That is against the rules

The poor NHS when many of the rule breaking grand parents end up in hospital!!!!!!

I've genuinely lost count of how many grand parents have been breaking the rules by beyond belief actually looking after the grand kids

But most just dont care they just think about themselves!!!!!!!

Problem here is, fab swingers is a sex hook up site. Never was known for being a debating society. It’s always going to be a good place to look if you want to find people prepared to break the rules. Short of closing the site down there is only so much that can be done. Just remember the site is dependent on people being prepared to pay to be here, otherwise it won’t be.

No response from Fab Admin as yet.

The removal of status updates for all will stop there ability to advertise meets and advertise that they want meets to all the people in their specific geographical area.

As said removing the status update will remove the tool they are using. In fact people who are meeting currently have messaged me abuse telling me to stop asking for this as "it will fuck things up for everyone" because they know removal of the feature will really scupper things for them.

It would be way more effective than just closing the club review section (clubs are closed anyway) and more effective than closing the forum meet section. You would be shutting off the main tool used to find meets currently.

It won't stop all meets but it will make a significant difference at a time when the country is on a knife edge with infection rates.

IP addresses are not fixed (for most), if your IP address if restricted, you just switch off your router for a little while (or your phone is using phone data) and you'll get a new address when you switch it back on.

Statuses won't do a thing, because people that want to meet will arrange via inbox or adjust their profile info so that it says will meet. The one thing that fab COULD do is close down the site until the finger pointers are happy that they won't have to finger point anymore. But then noone would be happy, especially the finger pointers because they wouldn't be able to finger point on fab forums And people would still meet via fb or twitter or some other site. So yeah

I work in the NHS and in the last few days, a serious situation has been declared at my hospital in London and the scary thing is that I have to return there on Monday the 4th. I remember how scared I was the first two days after I tested +. People need to stop being selfish. It is a fact that the virus moves around when people move therefore it is sensible to stop the virus movement through the limitation of people's movements. Of what benefit is your liberty when you know that you or your loved ones could end up needing and ICU bed that is physically not available again. It is sickening to know that people are still not aware of the consequences of mixing at this crucial time.

I guess I’m a little different.. the reason it bothers me is because I was diagnosed with cancer in September. I can’t have the operation I need to remove it because my hospital is full to bursting with covid patients. So in the meantime I’m being pumped with hormones to slow the cancers growth. I’m not yet 50 I’d very much like to stay alive and make it through 2021 .. no doubt if things don’t improve my death could be attributed to covid .. in the fact that it took away the ability for me to have treatment .. but they like you say what matter is it to folks like us ???

Fab can't do anything about it and why or how should they, we are adults, ignore or block people who are meeting, and use the forums and messages to connect with those you want to.

Everywhere out there people are breaking different laws of the land, just stick with the people who are doing what you feel is appropriate for the time, and don't worry too much about the rest of the world or you will just be facing extra frustration and times are hard enough as it is.

Focus on controlling what you can control do the best you can or, hope other people are too but just be responsible for yourself and your actions.

Oh I can't control anyone and I don't actively seek to. I am very vocal about speaking out though and challenging people rather than turning a blind eye. There are ways that Fab can help with their community which I don't feel they are doing enough (I know, I know, it's been done to death! ) so that's probably why so many people get pissed off with my posts. I won't apologise for it though as it's the right thing to do.

Not a poor comparison at all.... who says you can break the speed limit and still be in control? Are you exercising your own judgement? Is that ok? The law says the speed limit is a limit.... breaking the law is going beyond that. Do you not think that people can exercise their own judgement as regards infection control in the same way?

There will be those who go far above the speed limit with a car in poor condition and increase risk.. there will be those who have physical contact with large numbers of people without exercising any distance/mask etc.

What you are looking for is the opportunity to have a COVID rant without question.

What you are looking for is the opportunity to have a COVID rant without question. "

I know if I'm doing 80 on the M62 in decent driving conditions then I'm in full control unless something unforeseen happens (but unforeseen can also happen at 30mph in a built up area). I wouldn't drive at a stupid speed in poor conditions and nowhere in my previous post did I say that.

And it's good to know that people are capable of stopping a virus spreading by being in close proximity to others because they use their own "infection control" (feel free to share with us how we can all do this whilst breaking any guidelines, it'll definitely halt the spread! )

"Is it just me that reads "only worry about what you can control" as "this is my thinly veiled way of trying to look as though I'm agreeing with social distancing rules but I'm probably one of the ones that uses my own judgement as to when and where I bend them to suit my own purpose"?

Maybe it's just the old cynic in me....

Not just you I’m sure, however I’m intrigued how you are going to control what others are doing.

So I only worry about what I can do by following the guidelines where I live.

"

You appear to have omitted your inference

“this is my thinly veiled way of trying to look as though I'm agreeing with social distancing rules but I'm probably one of the ones that uses my own judgement as to when and where I bend them to suit my own purpose"

Like I said I don’t worry about what others do. I help reduce the spread by following the guidelines where I live.

"Has anyone ever broken the speed limit?

Now think...

Poor comparison IMO. We can all break the speed limit by a few MPH and be fully in control of our vehicle.

Unfortunately, the same can't be said for being in control of spreading the virus.

Not a poor comparison at all.... who says you can break the speed limit and still be in control? Are you exercising your own judgement? Is that ok? The law says the speed limit is a limit.... breaking the law is going beyond that. Do you not think that people can exercise their own judgement as regards infection control in the same way?

Doing 80 on the m62 is illegal! You’re the one who kills people thinking that’s ok. The 70 limit reduces the potential impact due to an unforeseen circumstance likely giving more time to react, reduced stopping distance, etc.

I don't know if anyone had said this on here, sorry if you have and I've missed it. Here's what Fab says about arranging and having meet ups

"Looking for intimate meets falls outside the guidance so will remain a breach of Fab terms of conditions. If you are following the government advice, you will not be in breach of Fab terms and conditions."

From

https://m.fabswingers.com/forum/feedback/1026660

"Please report anyone still actively looking for meets, this is not acceptable on Fab at this moment in time. 99.9% of people are fully supporting this but there is the occasionally straggler."

Somewhere near

In comparison to the crowds of shoppers etc.. I think fab is just a small, minuscule percentage of idiots

Ir the businesses that dont have enough bio security in situ

Let alone those businesses that lay people of that have to isolate. So still give to work . That's more a real picture

I'll step away from this one I think before I fall foul of the mods.

Sometimes it really just isn't worth the effort.

How can Fab stop the spread of this virus ? of course they can't. But they give you all the warnings. Tell you not to meet up. But a lot will. Like the people who party. Catch Covid, then take it home to grandad and Grandma... Blood on their hands
