I have seen a work colleague been invited for vaccine, she is a healthy 27 year old, i questioned this in a group chat and apparently another relative of a friend aged 7 also healthy has been invited for vaccine, apparently they are randomly selecting. I cant find anything about this in the news, has anyone heard of this ?

Thanks

I didn't think the vaccine was licensed for children under 16

To pick people at random seems a very inefficient means of mass immunisation

Deal

People have been grouped into appropriate clinically vulnerable categories and invited in order of priority which is why we have started with the over 80s and front line staff

NHS nurse.

Not licenced for under 16.

Bogus letters being sent out I am lead to believe.

Gp or employer will contact patient direct.

Hence my employer sorted due to nurse role and our admin staff to as contact with patients.

Carers are offered it. So depends on job role

Bogus letter or in error I suspect. I know the local GP surgery is only inviting those over 80

Thanks for the help, i think although the letter looks genuine it might be bogus, and must be a mix up with the 7 yr old. Thought was to strange to be coincidence.

You can see how nonsense conspiracy theory's start.

There is currently a well known scam going round regards invite letters for vaccination. If your friends are unsure they should call their doctors surgery who will clarify if they are to be vaccinated.

However as said earlier the vaccine is not licensed for under 16 year olds.

Central

The rollout is obviously targeted but errors could happen, when manageing thousands of people, often from databases. It's typically been the over 80s, with Doctors etc struggling to get it for themselves.

The key point is are you happy with the priorities? Over 80s ss the top priority is a good one, plus care home people.

Weird misfits is another strange detraction from the good job of getting vulnerable people to have it.

The 7 over 80s I know who have had the vaccination all had a phone call from their surgery. None had a letter.

Are you sure the 7 year olds letter isn't for a flu vaccine?

We have been chasing those children who have not attended for this.

The Covid vaccine is not licensed for children.

Had two text messages from my gp saying they are starting the program and will get in touch when I am due to get mine and not to get in touch with them but wait till I am called for and that it’s going to be age related, over 80s first then over 70 s etc

My trust has opened it up a bit wider this week as many are off or away for Christmas not to see any of this batch wasted.
