For Christmas day?

Given the fact that a lot of places will enter tier 4 at 00:01 on boxing day,have any of you changed your Christmas day plans deciding its just not worth the risk of mixing households?....

We were erring on cancellation even though we were only going straight to our sons to have Christmas Eve and day with them and straight back..

Decision taken out of our hands and even though we've only seen the grand kids once this year we are ok with it..

We've completely cancelled all our plans. Decided to do it another time after Xmas, when this all blows over, hoping it does.

I feel bad for all of those who may lose their last Xmas with relatives. Not only is everyone scared to catch the virus, but this could be a lot of people's last Xmas, and they're missing it, you know?

Such a crazy year. Here's to 2021, eh?

No. Actually our Christmas will be the same as always. The 4 of us plus my Dad (who lives alone and is in our "bubble"). The same as every Christmas since we moved here in 2008.

Yep. Cancelled it the day before they put places into level four, so we made the decision first.

I was surprised North West to remain a 3

Annoying thing is our friends live a mile up the road, same road I drive up to get to work and the Mrs yet they are allowed as in tier 2.

But I can go to work and mix with hundreds of people and Mrs works in a hospital and see's hundreds daily.

Their numbers aren’t rising at the rate of the south and east, so understandable why they aren’t.

However, I hope it doesn’t come and slap the government’s backside by not doing a countrywide lockdown, in line with the other nations, trying to minimise the spread of this current variation.

I shall miss my family due to the possibilities of infection from my very young grandson but will be sharing lunch with my bubble friend.

I feel however necessary it was felt,keeping schools open is a mistake as under normal circumstances they're disease spreading grounds so covid must be loving it!

We havn't changed our plans as we were and still are tier 3. Our daughter, partner and child are coming for Christmas lunch, we are in their childcare bubble and we have all been mixing due to that. I'm the one that would suffer most from covid as I'm clinically extremley highly vulnerable and I'm ok about them coming round

my plans are the same just me hubs and the dog xmas is just one day if we cant dumb down one day to save 100s/1,000s of lives then there no hope for this virus ending anytime soon ....

oh I didn't realise that £1000 excluded presents. Mine is £400 at most including presents. Not sure how you could spend £1000 and it not be on presents x

We don't set a budget but on food and drink, we spent £40 at the butcher and £120 at Ocado (that's food to last a fortnight, was delivered on 16th Dec). We finally spent about a tenner in Sainsbury's on veg and a few bits. There will be 4 adults and a 3yo on Christmas Day.

Gifts wise, we don't spend much. We don't buy gifts for each other. Family are getting a photo book from the past year - we bought 8 and they cost £40. Otherwise, my Dad is getting a book, my Grandad needed new undies (£15!). My brother's kids x2 are getting a tenner in a card and the in-laws got a candle set (reduced), a bottle of wine and the niece/nephew (x2) each got a Lego toy in the 3 for 2 Sainsbury's offer.

Our daughter is getting a train track set for Christmas that belonged to her brother (who is now 18)....

Sorry I should explain. Somehow with the accounts we end up at a negative number at the end of Christmas every year. This year we appear to be up by £1000.

So when the guys in white coats have kicked the shit out of covid-19, we will be spending £1000 on a night out. Anybody coming with us? Snag is it will be mid year.

My Father wanted his family round him however being put in Tier 4 ended that which I’m glad as it took away a difficult conversation with him and other family members.

So I’m having a lovely relaxing day at home drinking and eating. Sadly I have not escaped not one but two zoom quizzes.

No change of plans due to changing tiers, as we were already tier 4 - but we had to change our plans as I have covid.

So I'm isolating away from my family as they are not showing symptoms. Lunch was over zoom.

I have slept most of the day as I am exhausted.

We do it every year, just rebooked for next Christmas.
