I agree, but it's also testament to the people of Sweden and their mind set.

In Sweden they voluntarily socially distanced, limited their social interactions and were sensible so that the govt didn't need to impose rules.

Here in the UK we were advised in March not to go to the pub, yet they were packed, VE-Day Congers and swamped the beaches on bank holidays

I'm quite envious of my family basically having their lives back at this stage. Although couldn't be more different to Sweden, I think my mum said hottest November on record (Jesus wept, they're getting strings of mid 40s already)

What is this opinion based on?

You do realise Sweden has a terrible history of far right groups attacking immigrants.

When i used to travel there in the mid 2000's it was recommended to me by my Swedish host to grow my hair. A shaven head was still seen as a racist hair cut at that time.

Also your above post is untrue.

They didn't lockdown. Multiple posts in this section of the forum from people who have traveled there through the pandemic, all said it was like a different world, people carrying on as normal like coronavirus hadn't happened.

Funny how in a post like this the pro lock down people praise the Swedes for being personally responsible, yet will critise Sweden for not locking down in posts which mention their second wave.

Wish I was there now but the local authorities have had rules retricting what they saw as problems through the year. It affected clubs etc in places. Aren't bars limited with numbers now?

Well their cases are going up to several thousand a day and they've had over 6000 deaths.

They're reportedly considering restrictions similar to ours now.

Yes I watched one of his videos and a recent interview.

I found it disturbing that such a seemingly intelligent person can leave himself open to be made to look so embarrassingly stupid.

Nobody can state that lockdown doesn't work when it hasn't been tested.

We are where we are BECAUSE of lockdowns (or rather social restrictions) across most of the world and I don't see how anyone can argue that we wouldn't be worse off of we took away all the restrictions and potentially overwhelm the health service.

It's easy to critise the establishment when you have no fear of having to assume responsibility.

Ah well, he has his sheeples too ....

A chemical engineer has discovered that pretending to know things about nutrition is lucrative. Pandemic hits and he finds another way to make money by pretending to know things and appealing to a different demographic.

I'll stick to the people with relevant expertise rather than a grifter jumping to the pandemic

Pity about the people who die and acquire disabilities, who won't manage to contribute to the economy though

To be fair to Cummings he just uses data supplied by the government along with ourworldindata.

I also recall seeing one of his videos months ago and his predictions appear to be correct based on how respiratory pathogens have always behaved.

This!

Also, YouTube videos aren’t peer reviewed, which is why all of these anti-science hacks use it... If it’s a genuine insight or scientifically backed study then by all means publish it in a reputable scientific journal...

Peer reviewed data that’s published by the government daily. Where’s that then.

The reason I ask is because Cummings uses the data supplied by the government.

Swedish people are more civilised than us and do not get totally pissed and forget to keep distance etc. They are better behaved.

If British people could be trusted to keep distance respect each other space etc we would not need lockdown

Lockdown is needed because of stupid arrogance of a lot of the population not the government.
