I was listening to something interesting and it was about how to survive if there was a food shortage and they gave an example too, like if you was stuck on a island, what one food could you live on? They said potatoes cos it contains alot of vitamins and minerals, what are your view about it? Food for though as the saying goes

Porridge - it's a slower release of energy.

Potatoes would be good as they could be served in many forms.

If there's a good shortage what makes you think there'll be enough potatoes to go round Shag?

It will be hard, but I guess one option would be to mass produce it if that would be the only thing left

NUTS

I'd choose from almond walnut cashew pumpkin seed and Brasil

If I'm going to cut a food group it would be carb however I'd prefer not to

Normally I would not include cashew in the nut list however if I was only one cashew contains healthy carb and fiber

If Matt Damon can produce potatoes on Mars, there's still hope for us on Earth to overcome this food shortage.

Bit of a stupid question as the only reason food would be short is if crops failed, farming is very diverse though but ultimately rely on growing food either for produce or as animal feed.

if there is going to be a food shortage does that mean social distancing will be more achievable as waistlines shrink?

If there is a food shortage and you don't have a gun then you will starve. Your potatoes will soon be someone else's potatoes.

Potatoes are high in carbs so not ideal for most type 2 diabetics I can't look at potatoes as they spike my blood sugar .

I'm guessing a high protein food would be best, assuming it's got good micronutrients, as protein can be converted to carbs and fat. Pulses of some type.

Its impossible for a food source to convert from as you said protein to carbs and so on.....that cannot happen....protein is protein....your body cannot convert say fat to muscle either...they are 2 different substances.....obviously a balanced diet is ideal....forage for fruit n veg....and look for protein sources whatever choices you have.

But yes...you cannot nor can your body change the type of food source that your about to eat....you cannot cinvert carbs into protein or fat either way you look at it....hence why food has nutrient properties that are unique to themselves
