Your attitude creates a divide. Are you blaming him because you're in Tier 3 ?

"I think there will be a north south divide now and yes the tiers do have a say in it. "

So because one part of the country is in a higher tier it's Boris's fault ?

Kingston-upon-Thames has the highest rate in the country but is tier 2. Inexplicable.

There is a divide, it’s called lower numbers in the majority of places in the south. Facts are facts. Anyone at all who was PM during this pandemic was alway going to be in a no win situation.

If you check infection rates London is far lower than the north .....

The reason the north have it worse now is that your first wave came later abs you hadn’t had the chance to recover before schools went back. We had the buffer of low cases when that happened. In my area we have 101/100000 cases and some areas up North are 400 and 500 /100000.

Although I do hope he gets voted out as he’s a twat.

On Jeremy Vine today the infectious diseases expert basically said that as London was hit badly in March they effectively have a level of herd immunity because so many of those who were likely to catch it because they were mixing and travelling a lot, have caught and are now immune.

Finally some sense being spoken.

I (Mr) originates from the NW but we are living in Essex. Friends of ours have moved back to the NW from down south a few months back and I am told that there's been nowhere near as much compliance up north as down south and they've said it's hardly surprising that they find themselves in Tier 3 and then everyone blame's the government but they don't want to stick to the rules!

As a northerner I feel embarrassed to hear statements like this.

Its not just the infection rate that determines the Tier specification.

Hospital capacity also comes to bear as well.

This really isn't about votes, it's about lives.

Boris doesn't make these calls - he just follows the advice of the medics and those with the knowledge.

Regardless who was in power it would be the same people making the decisions.

The tiers are based on infections, not because he likes people and doesn't like others.

Over the next 4 months areas will change between 1-3 tiers Some areas in the north west have dropped or are dropping, Liverpool was around 400-500 a few weeks ago Manchester was the same I think it's around 170-270 now, But the south west is rising

On a mooch

If you go to data . London . Gov . Uk select covid from the main menu and scroll down to the first document, you can see clearly the London numbers by borough, together with its falling rates and the comparison against the rest of the country.

It was announced in our local website that some of the parameters they would look at when making the decision was :-

- Officials will look at the total number of cases in London, where they are spreading geographically and whether they are on the rise.

- They will also pay attention to the number of cases among the over-60s, as older people are particularly vulnerable to more serious symptoms and complications of coronavirus.

- The R rate - the speed at which the virus is spreading - will be analysed for London specifically, as well as the percentage of those tested in the city who are found to have Covid.

- Finally, officials will look at current and projected pressure on the NHS in London to see how the service would cope with relaxed restrictions.

On the second one of these over 60s, our infections are highest between 20-54 year olds and the over 60s is a lot lower

Some MPs asked for London to be treated as separate boroughs for Tiers, that was never going to work.

We can analyse all we like, who has ended up where, but I just concentrate on where I am, what I’m doing and then focus additionally on the areas my folks live in. Personally I would have been happy with T3 but T2 it is.

To be plain. if you do as your told and take the right actions you wont get huge numbers. We had all and sundry come down to Devon on Holiday. To be met with people doing the right thing, and asking others politely to do the same. Yes I am in tier 2 because of 2 areas that failed to do the right thing. Blame the 5% in your area that are not doing the right thing. That is all it needs. If you see someone doing wrong ask them to behave. Maybe then you wont be in the top tier. your not idiots in the north. dont blame the people who have kept it down....
