"From what I've been told by work colleagues, London is sticking to the rules more than the region's. However, once the doors open again on the 2nd, with the increase volume of people in London I can see it ramping up more." London is sticking to the rules tbh ........ it’s also far less busy and has been since March due to home working.

"Can not believe London is in tier 2 .Boris keeping his cronies happy. Here in Northumberland we have more open spaces than anywhere in the country,it is a joke." It could be that London in comparison to pre covid is extremely quiet in relation to commuters which in normal times is hundreds of thousands daily, that has also helped the areas they normally travel to/from..

So those boroughs that have a high rate (one is the third in the country) it is mostly being contained in that area The tiers aren’t just set by the number of infections, they look at many factors and it’s not just because we are in the south To be honest I thought we’d go into T3 as a whole, but they’ve decided more of London is T2 than the couple of boroughs that have high infection numbers. I fully expect our numbers to rocket as individuals outside of London travel into the capital for a bit of shopping, see the lights, have a meal and expect to go into T3 before end of December/early January

"It is not as if Boris has to make sensible and considered decisions is it; he can continue on his arbitrary lockdown strategy and we have to live with it. At least he has negotiated with Covid 19 that it will not infect anyone over the Christmas break which I suppose is his one and only achievement in this. But then why should he or his wonderful Ministers care, they can do what they like anyway. Someone mentioned people in London behaving more than the rest of the country; hmm clearly the demonstrations are a figment of northern imagination then. Of course he wants London open in December, imagine the money the Tory business paymasters and backers would loose if they were all closed. " Cynic

" Not a figment of your imagination but also an assumption that it was actually individuals that lived in London just at these demonstrations, when people travelled from all over the country to attend. As always everyone makes assumptions about other areas of the country looking for reasons / blame, which just causes unnecessary divide, maybe focus on your own counties and the issues within them.

"The tiers are farcical. Market Harborough is a whisker away from zero cases but the whole of Leicestershire is in tier 3. This is Tory heartland and I can tell from the mood around here that the Conservatives are finished here. Problems arose in spring when the city of Leicester was locked down and its youth headed to Harboro for a night out instead and the old bill did naff all. The locals are very very angry. There are similar examples all across Northamptonshire. Simple solution, pubs and restaurants should be able to exclude people if they cannot provide evidence that they live local." Under the 1949 Geneva Conventions collective punishment is considered a war crime. Seems like Market Harborough should sue.

Even in county rules, some because they choose to, will travel to another area just so they can have a drink, as an example
