"Once the vaccine for Covid becomes available, would you arrange a meet with people who haven't been vaccinated? That may sound trivial to some, but until the vast majority of people are vaccinated, you'll still be just as much at risk as you are now.... After I've had my shots, I'll be adding 'Must have had Covid 19 Vaccine shots' to my profile, as I'm catagorised as 'High Risk' and IMHO it's just not worth taking the chance. What about you?" how would you know they have had vaccine? do u get certificate once you have had it or will you just be taking peoples word that they have had it?

"Considering that most of us never ask for proof that “meets” are stds free ...( I’ve never ever been asked to provide a certificate, ever ! ) I’m thinking that probably most will not ask for proof of vaccination either " You are right there and I think the same too

"TBH I kind of expected a place where everyone is aware of the importance of Safe Sex, to be a bit more switched on about the importance of the same approach to being Vaccinated against Covid 19. Just like condoms Vs Aids and other STD's, being vaccinated doesn't necessarily mean you're immune. It means you're MUCH less likely contract the virus, but even MORE so if both parties are vaxxed. Would you meet someone if only one of you is practicing safe sex all the time? If they don't do it at all, or only do it when they feel like it... I'm willing to bet you'd feel a bit differently.... You can *see* if someone isn't wearing a condom. You can't see whether or not they're vaccinated. Plenty of people are willing to provide evidence of STD tests - why not a Covid Vaccination? In the present climate, it seems silly not to IMHO" It remains to be seen what proof if any will be provided to those who will get the vaccine, there may not be any or there may only be a note made on your medical records. We don’t even know who will get the vaccine yet and when it will be available for people in low risk. Just to add, there are plenty of people on this site who don’t use condoms or get checked regularly, so I’m not sure your comment about everyone being aware of the importance of safe sex stands up. In answer to your question, I will personally be getting vaccinated when it’s available to me, but it won’t be a criteria for meeting for me. You could just as easily catch it from someone in Tesco once restrictions are lifted

It will probably be similar to the Jabs you get when you go to certain countries

Just who is going to pay for that..? Oh and if your only proof is an email or text that would also require you to own a smartphone and have access to the internet, now remember that the most vulnerable (the over 65) only 80% of them in the UK even own a smartphone, leaving out well over 2 million oldies because they don't own a smartphone, let's not forget this would also require everybody to carry ID at all times, I mean it all sounds like a super easy, very quick and cheap idea to me.

"How would you know if people where vaccinated or not" Ask for a certificate, just as you would for an STI report. Qantas is now going to start banning people from international flights if they don't have a certificate. Great idea IMHO

"Once the vaccine for Covid becomes available, would you arrange a meet with people who haven't been vaccinated?" Absolutely not. Why ? Because the vaccine may protect us from getting the virus, but it doesn't stop us being potentially asymptomatic and passing it on to other people. You could say "Well, they took that chance, you're ok, it's their risk and their decision". I'd counter argue that other people's health is also our responsibility too. Anything less is doing them a disservice. We lived as a bonded fluid-bound couple with another couple for some years. We took their health as seriously as we took ours. This is the way.

Oh God. Your post has just brought this thought to mind. Tee shirts or baseball caps with a witty (not) comment on the front about being or not vaccinated. Went to a social and a guy tipped up wearing a tee shirt with 2 footprints on top of chest shoulder area with the letters, place feet here. He thought it was hilarious, maybe why he was single. Bless him.

" Surely being asymptomatic is still having the virus, which is exactly what the vaccine is supposed to protect us from. How could a vaccine both protect us from catching a virus and and let us be asymptomatic at the same time? (Apart from the people who's the vaccine won't offer any protection for, as I understand none of them are 100% effective.) Anybody would still be able to spread covid by touching a surface infected with bacteria and spreading it to other surfaces, that's regardless of whether they hey have been vaccinated or not or have any immunity or not.

"Once i’ve been vaccinated why not ?" This is my take on it. If I'm vaccinated to protect me from the virus why would I be concerned whether other people are or not? Potentially they'd be putting themselves at risk because at least one of the vaccines doesn't prevent you from spreading it, just from catching it and I simply don't have the capacity to make myself responsible for the minute details of the health of the people I meet.

How could a vaccine both protect us from catching a virus and and let us be asymptomatic at the same time?" From other diseases, it is very possible to be protected from the disease, and be asymptomatic and shedding at the same time. In truth, we just don't know if that is the case with Covid.

What about you? Yes we would, what you don't seem to realise is vaccination does not mean a person does not have the virus neither does it mean the person cannot pass the virus on. All vaccination means (at this time) is they will not suffer the full effects of the virus if they catch it" Completely. I'm amazed at the ignorance of so many. You may get vaccinated but you can still pass on the virus to anyone else even those who have been vaccinated. Wake up people. It's there to prevent the one vaccinated from suffering the worse effects of it. You still have to learn to be responsible and respect others in your behaviour and actions.

So, I have two friends who have gold injections and they've been told that they CANNOT have the current vaccines because it WILL adversely affect they're immune system. Are they now likely to be vilified because 2 separate consultants have advised them that they cannot have the current pfizer or Oxford vaccine?

Their immune systems have been compromised due to the gold injections (sodium aurothiomalate) dampen down the immune system, the doctors have probably based their advice on that.

"We definitely would not meet people who refuse the vaccine." How would you know that they have had the vaccine or the vaccine that you approve of.. Are you going to ask for some sort of proof? The injections start next week as as yet, nobody except a minute number of people on forums are suggesting them. That is nit being disrespectful to anyone but I'm not really sure that this forum or any other forum would put any pressure on the government to introduce such a devisive system, however I could be wrong. How are you going to confirm these 'certificates' are genuine? Admittedly, you can ask another party if they've had the vaccination and are you happy that they say they have or would you require some sort of proof?

"This is an interesting question and reaches far beyond meeting people from Fab. We hope that everyone will take the opportunity to have the vaccine but there will be some that dont. As has been mentioned earlier it seems it doesn't stop you spreading or catching it just mitigates the effects. The people more at risk will be the ones that dont take it. If we are ok then we would probably decide to start meeting again when social distancing restriction are lifted. If you can be hugging and kissing friends and family then regarding covid-19 anything you do on doesn't seem to make things worse. " 'The people more at risk will be the ones that dont take it. If we are ok then we would probably' How does that work out? Apparently the people more at risk are the ones in the first few weeks and a lot will just take it, in care homes, hospitals etc, over 80's then as per the published lists. Haven't heard many from those groups saying they wouldn't take the vaccine

"The WHO confirm if you are under 70 fit and healthy then flu has a higher fatality rate than covid-19. Do you ask for proof of flu vaccine? I'm guessing not. Once those for whom covid-19 is potentially fatal (the clinically vulnerable and over 70s) our freedoms should be fully restored. Teetering on the edge of what exactly. The mortality rate for healthy people from covid is overall extremely low. "I hear you but I'd never bully anyone. Its just vigorous debate.lm probably not very good at it, but I'm ok in the sack. Look, we really don't know each other but I'm sure we could be friends at least. " When you decide that people have their own choices then maybe but you've stated very clearly that you wouldn't go near someone who hasn't had the vaccine

What about you? Just how would you know you are meeting with someone who has been vaccinated..? Does anybody think even for a second that you will receive some kind of certificate you can wave around to prove it." in time they will as you will need proof of vacination to fly and probably other things as well

I respect the fact that people can HAVE opinions but there are certainly many that I don't respect " Hmm that's the problem these days so little respect! X
