Would you meet non-vaccinated?

Once the vaccine for Covid becomes available, would you arrange a meet with people who haven't been vaccinated?

That may sound trivial to some, but until the vast majority of people are vaccinated, you'll still be just as much at risk as you are now....

After I've had my shots, I'll be adding 'Must have had Covid 19 Vaccine shots' to my profile, as I'm catagorised as 'High Risk' and IMHO it's just not worth taking the chance.

What about you?

Think it will differ enormously.

Some folks are meeting at present, some will meet once vaccine is widely distributed, some will take longer to get their confidence back.

It may take many months after the death rate / infection rate is down to the odd outbreak. If the fear of the virus is still causing you anxiety it may ruin any meets in the foreseeable future.

For us, any form of meet or dipping our toes back into swinging will probably be next summer, will have to see what pans out.

I'm not going to be a vaccine certificate checker. I'll probably go on the prevalence of the infection. Different infections circulate all the time and this 1 will become as insignificant as the rest at some point.

I'm guessing I'll be vaccinated but we could be amongst those who haven't

Surely you understand that being vaccinated means you have protection against infection. Bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted to be asking to prove vaccinated if you already are.

If you are vaccinated, you would be immune so I wouldn't have thought it would put you at risk as you would have already protected yourself.

I'd rather trust someone responsible than someone who thinks a vaccine lets them do what they want, so no.

I won’t be meeting anyone whether they have had the vaccine or not. I’ll be having the vaccine if I am invited to participate in the trial or when it becomes available to my cohort. This pandemic has really taught me that the only behaviour that will with some level of assurance protect me and my nearest and dearest from infection, whatever the infection is, is mine. I have been far too blaze in the past with regard to other things like Flu and colds. As a result I have decided that I’m going to minimise my risks and no longer meet. I couldn’t live with myself if I gave my Mum or Dad or other vulnerable members of my family, Covid or flu or whatever because I needed a bunk up.

TBH I kind of expected a place where everyone is aware of the importance of Safe Sex, to be a bit more switched on about the importance of the same approach to being Vaccinated against Covid 19.

Just like condoms Vs Aids and other STD's, being vaccinated doesn't necessarily mean you're immune. It means you're MUCH less likely contract the virus, but even MORE so if both parties are vaxxed.

Would you meet someone if only one of you is practicing safe sex all the time?

If they don't do it at all, or only do it when they feel like it... I'm willing to bet you'd feel a bit differently....

You can *see* if someone isn't wearing a condom. You can't see whether or not they're vaccinated.

Plenty of people are willing to provide evidence of STD tests - why not a Covid Vaccination?

In the present climate, it seems silly not to IMHO

Is the whole point of a vaccine not to vaccinate and protect the old and vulnerable and then younger or healthier people mix in the general public to achieve herd immunity?

Somehow I don't see 7 billion people needing the vaccine and to get bad with people who haven't had it seems ridiculous. You've never not met someone who hasn't had their flu jab yet people passing flus kills tonnes of people yearly. (no I'm not saying flu deaths are the same as covid deaths but a lot of deaths nonetheless)

It remains to be seen what proof if any will be provided to those who will get the vaccine, there may not be any or there may only be a note made on your medical records. We don’t even know who will get the vaccine yet and when it will be available for people in low risk.

Just to add, there are plenty of people on this site who don’t use condoms or get checked regularly, so I’m not sure your comment about everyone being aware of the importance of safe sex stands up.

In answer to your question, I will personally be getting vaccinated when it’s available to me, but it won’t be a criteria for meeting for me. You could just as easily catch it from someone in Tesco once restrictions are lifted

This kind of post annoys me. Everybody's health is there own business and strictly confidential and not for anyone to ask if they've had any kind of treatment or vaccination.

You judge a person on their appearance and personality, that should give you as much information to decide if you want to meet them or not.

I think for a while we will be depending on taking someone's word for it .Im making no immediate plans and given I'm single that also means no chance of any lasting relationships either

I think those who do meet will going for honesty not a ' cavalier' approach .

Not unlike thec' HiV ' days as was I suppose . However ,as we move forward I would imagine/ hope there will be Covid passes and people will need to prove that they are ' safe' in some way before they can get together .

This isn’t the flu jab, when I had a COVID test I got a text , I am sure they will do the same or similar with the vaccine especially if certain sectors start to make it a requirement . It will probably be similar to the Jabs you get when you go to certain countries

Simple, it would be on a data base, you might even get a number (that will please the conspiracy theorists) . But if you don’t want the vaccine then it really doesn’t matter, just don’t expect to be going abroad, or watching concerts, live sports etc

Okay so a worldwide secure database that every public place no matter how remote has access to so they can verify not only your identity but know in realtime if you have covid or not..! Just who is going to pay for that..? Oh and if your only proof is an email or text that would also require you to own a smartphone and have access to the internet, now remember that the most vulnerable (the over 65) only 80% of them in the UK even own a smartphone, leaving out well over 2 million oldies because they don't own a smartphone, let's not forget this would also require everybody to carry ID at all times, I mean it all sounds like a super easy, very quick and cheap idea to me.

"Once the vaccine for Covid becomes available, would you arrange a meet with people who haven't been vaccinated?"

Absolutely not.

Why ?

Because the vaccine may protect us from getting the virus, but it doesn't stop us being potentially asymptomatic and passing it on to other people.

You could say "Well, they took that chance, you're ok, it's their risk and their decision".

I'd counter argue that other people's health is also our responsibility too. Anything less is doing them a disservice.

We lived as a bonded fluid-bound couple with another couple for some years. We took their health as seriously as we took ours. This is the way.

Your post has just brought this thought to mind.

Tee shirts or baseball caps with a witty (not) comment on the front about being or not vaccinated.

Went to a social and a guy tipped up wearing a tee shirt with 2 footprints on top of chest shoulder area with the letters, place feet here.

He thought it was hilarious, maybe why he was single.

Surely being asymptomatic is still having the virus, which is exactly what the vaccine is supposed to protect us from.

How could a vaccine both protect us from catching a virus and and let us be asymptomatic at the same time?

(Apart from the people who's the vaccine won't offer any protection for, as I understand none of them are 100% effective.)

Anybody would still be able to spread covid by touching a surface infected with bacteria and spreading it to other surfaces, that's regardless of whether they hey have been vaccinated or not or have any immunity or not.

This is my take on it. If I'm vaccinated to protect me from the virus why would I be concerned whether other people are or not? Potentially they'd be putting themselves at risk because at least one of the vaccines doesn't prevent you from spreading it, just from catching it and I simply don't have the capacity to make myself responsible for the minute details of the health of the people I meet.

From other diseases, it is very possible to be protected from the disease, and be asymptomatic and shedding at the same time.

In truth, we just don't know if that is the case with Covid.

" I'll need to see your papers before we go any further" "

As alot of people go by an alias name or just there first name for fab meets, alot will feel uncomfortable showing proof with full name, that they have been vaccinated to strangers, there be more comfortable showing proof to clubs though,as alot of clubs ask to see I.D anyway

I know I lack in trust as have been stung in past

Everyone has the right to refuse a vaccine but in the same vein everyone has the right to refuse to meet said person.

I think people who do refuse it are going to find things pretty difficult for a while. Yes they can refuse to prove they have had the vaccine but will just have to accept that they will not be able to do many of the things they normally would be able to if they are not going to do their bit.

Yes, getting vaccinated will greatly increase your protection when meeting non vaccinated but but not as great as meeting someone who is.

"Once the vaccine for Covid becomes available, would you arrange a meet with people who haven't been vaccinated?

That may sound trivial to some, but until the vast majority of people are vaccinated, you'll still be just as much at risk as you are now....

After I've had my shots, I'll be adding 'Must have had Covid 19 Vaccine shots' to my profile, as I'm catagorised as 'High Risk' and IMHO it's just not worth taking the chance.

What about you?

Surely you understand that being vaccinated means you have protection against infection. Bit like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted to be asking to prove vaccinated if you already are. "

Unfortunately it's not as straightforward as that. We know that the vaccines aren't 100% effective, so despite having the vaccine you still have a chance ( albeit much smaller than without the vaccine) of being infected. The odds will get better when the infection rates drop significantly from where they are now.

Ensuring that the people you meet have been vaccinated reduces the odds further .

Well seeing as, all pregnant women and those, planning a family in the near future are going to be strongly advised not to have the vaccine. this must surely say it is not as safe as they are claiming

They must be worried about any future lawsuits and, Pfizer have a list as long as your arm of previous lawsuits against them.

it doesnt say that at all

it says that in the length of time its been tested they haven’t been able to do enough testing on pregnant women to make sure its safe for a developing foetus... it has however had the appropriate testing for me and you

Just how would you know you are meeting with someone who has been vaccinated..? Does anybody think even for a second that you will receive some kind of certificate you can wave around to prove it.

Of course you will get proof, probably a text or email .

A text or an email means nothing and could be from anybody, how exactly would you verify its authenticity

Simple, it would be on a data base, you might even get a number (that will please the conspiracy theorists) . But if you don’t want the vaccine then it really doesn’t matter, just don’t expect to be going abroad, or watching concerts, live sports etc "

And your source for that statement is?

So a new virus has been caught from bats, we had two weeks in March to stop it, swept through the globe, infected and killed thou_ands (or possibly millions), crashed the economy of most countries, left millions in limbo financially, a vaccine has been created for it, the lead dr in the world casts doubts on the vaccination then retracts his statement, said vaccination is distributed and all in less than 12 months!!!!!!!! Please forgive me for being cynical.

You may get vaccinated but you can still pass on the virus to anyone else even those who have been vaccinated.

Wake up people. It's there to prevent the one vaccinated from suffering the worse effects of it.

So, I have two friends who have gold injections and they've been told that they CANNOT have the current vaccines because it WILL adversely affect they're immune system. Are they now likely to be vilified because 2 separate consultants have advised them that they cannot have the current pfizer or Oxford vaccine?

No why should they? Their immune systems have been compromised due to the gold injections (sodium aurothiomalate) dampen down the immune system, the doctors have probably based their advice on that.

How would you know that they have had the vaccine or the vaccine that you approve of.. Are you going to ask for some sort of proof? The injections start next week as as yet, nobody except a minute number of people on forums are suggesting them. That is nit being disrespectful to anyone but I'm not really sure that this forum or any other forum would put any pressure on the government to introduce such a devisive system, however I could be wrong. How are you going to confirm these 'certificates' are genuine?

Admittedly, you can ask another party if they've had the vaccination and are you happy that they say they have or would you require some sort of proof?

This is an interesting question and reaches far beyond meeting people from Fab.

We hope that everyone will take the opportunity to have the vaccine but there will be some that dont. As has been mentioned earlier it seems it doesn't stop you spreading or catching it just mitigates the effects. The people more at risk will be the ones that dont take it. If we are ok then we would probably decide to start meeting again when social distancing restriction are lifted. If you can be hugging and kissing friends and family then regarding covid-19 anything you do on doesn't seem to make things worse.

The WHO confirm if you are under 70 fit and healthy then flu has a higher fatality rate than covid-19. Do you ask for proof of flu vaccine? I'm guessing not. Once those for whom covid-19 is potentially fatal (the clinically vulnerable and over 70s) our freedoms should be fully restored.

It's all about personal risk assessment and we would meet unvaccinated people quite happily

How does that work out? Apparently the people more at risk are the ones in the first few weeks and a lot will just take it, in care homes, hospitals etc, over 80's then as per the published lists. Haven't heard many from those groups saying they wouldn't take the vaccine

Other peoples health decisions are their own, i wont be being pushy about it..

The NHS constition says its a person RIGHT to refuse treatment even if refusal would lead to their death, so the GOV cant force anyone to do anything. Infact its gonnq scare a lot of folk into staying away

. Teetering on the edge of what exactly. The mortality rate for healthy people from covid is overall extremely low. Add to that the benefit from having been vaccinated and i am pretty sure that teetering on the edge of the pavement waiting to cross the road will be a greater risk.

All vaccination means (at this time) is they will not suffer the full effects of the virus if they catch it

Completely. I'm amazed at the ignorance of so many.

You may get vaccinated but you can still pass on the virus to anyone else even those who have been vaccinated.

Wake up people. It's there to prevent the one vaccinated from suffering the worse effects of it.

You still have to learn to be responsible and respect others in your behaviour and actions.

You know that for a fact do you? Even the Deputy Chief Medical Officer or the vaccine developers know its impact on transmission. Perhaps you should tell them it definitely doesn't and your scientific basis for your knowledge

Brilliantly said "

plus it only lasts about 3 to 6 months they reckon so that's a lot of jabs in the future for the fearful among us

"The WHO confirm if you are under 70 fit and healthy then flu has a higher fatality rate than covid-19. Do you ask for proof of flu vaccine? I'm guessing not. Once those for whom covid-19 is potentially fatal (the clinically vulnerable and over 70s) our freedoms should be fully restored.

It's all about personal risk assessment and we would meet unvaccinated people quite happily

It’s actually under 50 not 70 that is high risk ..... we are both teetering on the edge of that . Teetering on the edge of what exactly. The mortality rate for healthy people from covid is overall extremely low. Add to that the benefit from having been vaccinated and i am pretty sure that teetering on the edge of the pavement waiting to cross the road will be a greater risk.

No I wouldn’t been an unvaccinated - to me they are putting themselves ahead of society, children, people’s livelihood .... shows me what kind of person they are. "

It also shows what kind of person they are that they have a personal choice. How selfish that someone has any rights whatsoever and it shows what kind of person others are for even attempting to shame or bully others into something that could potentially be fatal. Every single person is entitled to say no or yes to anything.

Obviously they're on here and adult so whether you agree with them or disagree, it's their rights not yours

Bully - persistent abs consistent behaviour to one or a group of people. Not possible on one forum thread

Shame- can only feel shame if you don’t have conviction in your choice.

Potentially be fatal? So is meeting a stranger from the internet - that risk is one happily taken but is that different?

Bullies

There isn't one but lots of bullies directing consistently and persistently to people who cannot or will not have the vaccine

Shame

Totally untrue. They still try

Potential to be fatal

Yep, from anything without meeting

Nobody is dying from sepsis, cancer, heart attacks, dementia, pneumonia, flu etc

Actually (according to ONS), the death rates for all the things you've listed are similar to the average, flu is down by around a thousand a month, but then the restrictions should reduce the transmission of flu too. STIs are at an all time low though.

Just how would you know you are meeting with someone who has been vaccinated..? Does anybody think even for a second that you will receive some kind of certificate you can wave around to prove it."

in time they will as you will need proof of vacination to fly and probably other things as well

It is designed to try and limit the severity of the infection

"I'm probably a bully because when we can get vaccinated, I don't want the anti-vaxxer crowd near me risking my health.

Maybe we wont want to b near u just a thought! x

Maybe, maybe not

It's a no from me! X

Why on earth would u want to? I'm not being vaccinated? x
