scotland

In Scotland R rate is estimated to be between 0.8 and 1. Transmission has declined significantly. R rate was estimated to be around 1.7 in September.

So, what's changed? We have entered a tier system where restrictions rage from small numbers in a house to non-essential shops closing. Pubs not serving alcohol etc.

But schools remain open. Some people blamed the 2nd wave on the schools returning but if they were responsible then how are infection rates decreasing when the only change is that kids need to wear masks in corridors.

It will be interesting to compare England scotland wales and northern irelands lockdowns all different. Will take a few weeks to see the full effects of each.

Central

Great apparent success by the people and government

In England I'm not clear that evidence has shown much of an effect overall due to the schools being open. It would have been better here if the government had resourced schools better, well in advance. They did lots of talking about it instead.

Maybe something to do with Covid ripping through universities and then obviously the numbers will fall.

This is about schools though and the point was that schools have been blamed but what can be observed in Scotland is that rates fell when pubs etc closed but schools remained open.

This is where everyone should take responsibility and get off the blame train, its easier to blame everyone else rather than each accept our small part in transmitting this virus knowingly or not, we need to pull together again and support those we can
