So it appears Boris is on a 2 week holiday again. Two top aides leaving, Brexit talks in disarray a lockdown coming to an end and scientists don't want the tier system back because it doesn't work. Take a test and he should have antibodies from his previous holiday I mean "illness"

From the little I have read he is self isolating due to being in contact with someone that's tested positive as the rules say you should do. If he did not follow the isolation rules what would people say then?

He’s self isolating. Which is what everyone is told to do. If he didn’t people would be up in arms, and people are up in arms when he follows the guidance. He can’t win.

He will still be working. Only from home. The world will still turn. There are people to step up if needed.

We managed before without him and we will no doubt manage again, if we have to.

I'm sure the headlines would be very different if it was discovered at a later stage the PM had been in contact with a COVID positive person and had not isolated.

What does the science say about reinfection and a persons ability to retransmit?

Exactly!

And quite frankly, if the fella wanted to take two weeks to have a little breakdown due to stress, I wouldn’t blame him. We are in unchartered times. He doesn’t know what to do for the best. He’s making it up as he goes along. Which is pretty much what every other leader in the World is doing, but they are better at looking like they have their shit together.

I can't understand why Boris has to isolate as he has already had it. What would be the point of a vaccine if we can catch it repeatedly or still need to frequently isolate ?

There's only limited evidence of immunity from being infected. Unlike what will be required for any of the vaccines before they would get approval.

The official rules indicate that everyone should isolate after contact, whether or not they have ever been infected

No, he met with the mp in question Thursday, who then felt ill Friday, so he took a test Saturday and got the results back today(Sunday) as a result Boris was with him 48 hours prior to the MPs symptoms and has to isolate as are the rules for the rest of us.

He's only doing what we all should be doing and as said the headlines would have been far more grabbing had he not been isolating for some reason.

Cheers makes more sense......still don't work how it properly should, I've had to delete it 5 times and still says I've been in contact with someone.....Christ knows how I haven't been out or come in contact with anyone in 3 weeks.

You, have hit the nail on the head!

Everyone is just throwing their best guesses at this thing! people tend to forget a few salient bits of information.

1, Countries like France and Germany are MUCH bigger than ours, and have a FAR easier time with population density. France has 47 people per square mile, we have over 1000. and they are not that far off us numbers wise. given how many people are packed onto this tiny island we're doing ok!

2, the Science! the science has changed almost daily. even the govt's own scientists in their 'worst case scenario' hadn't modelled what has happened.. so how could the prime minister magic something up based on data he doesn't have available? he's only human!

All in all, We've found COVID to be appalling how the political camps will play off each other at a time like this. we don't NEED the labour party going 'we would've done it differently!' to everything that they try..

What We NEED is to ensure we learn the lesson here and get rid of a useless PM. Why the hell should we ‘get behind’ incompetence and watch more vulnerable people die? Exactly how is that serving anyone? He is ignoring the recommendations aboht schools, he is not providing budget to enable school to operate safely nor is he paying teachers when they have to self isolate. That’s incompetence at an astonishing level!!

"

Tbh after almost a year of covid (from when we knew of its existence) party politics, in this area, should no longer play a part.

As soon as we were aware of the seriousness of the situation there should have been both a cross party uk task force (with the best people for the job, irrelevant of party — and I’m not just talking about scientists and health professionals - and talking about politicians who are renowned for ‘getting things done’ rather than bluster and blame!

There should also have been a global task force - not just the WHO as their help/influence/scope seems to be limited - but a conglomeration of the best minds in the world and, again, those capable of direct action.

I believe that if we’d done that early on, with national and global co-operation we’d be in a far better place now. X

i dont think its possible to agree with a post more

this is why politics here (and america) is a shambles ... we spend so much time fighting and trying to get one up on the other party that there is very little time left to do anything useful or well to actually improve the lives of people living here

however if we didnt get cross party cooperation for either brexit or covid i think i gotta accept its a pipe dream

"Seriously? What? Two weeks off? Now?? Wow! Just no seriously wtaf "

Yeah, doesn’t bode well for getting Brexit sorted in the tiny window between the proposed end of lockdown and the usual Xmas shutdown.

The Tories are probably sharpening their knives already, and not for the usual Turkey.

Interesting question about isolation and reinfection risks, though.

I guess you could be an a symptomatic spreader whilst your immune system sorts the virus out?

I genuinely don’t know.

"Also what a waste of friggin time the test track and trace is.....

MP test positive on THURSDAY

Boris was informed this morning SUNDAY

Hahahaha hahahaha hahahaha

Waste of bloody time amd money

It works by picking up nearby mobile devices who also have the app installed.

Potentially, if you are sitting in your house at an adjoining wall with your neighbour, you could pick up each other's blutooth signal.

I believe android phones running update 10 or lower also require gps to be active to compliment the blutooth via location.

If you want to know how it works, go into your phones settings and search covid, the Covid settings area also has information on how it works and what it does and doesn't do.

My advice, don't keep deleting the app but instead give your neighbours a wide berth..

Heard it all before and it is a load of left wing biased drivel made to spread doubt in voters minds and slowly but surely erode our faith in the government.

in 4 years time you'll probably get stuffed again because you can't help being so negative and get annoyed when somebody actually calls your bluff and says that actually not that many people think like you do. Some of us actually have a brain and can think for ourselves and don't need to be told all the time how we should vote.

Sadly your flush will be busted because we will get topside of this virus and there could be something of a Falklands effect her when it does happen.

I can but live in hope and if I'm wrong you lot might get your chance after all.
