"Someone on another thread asked for statistics on age of death from Covid. This is from the BBC website today : According to the MRC Biostatics Unit of the University of Cambridge the infection-mortality rates were these, as at 12 October Age 15-24 - 0.0046% of those infected have died Age 24-44 - 0.031% of those infected have died Age 45-64 - 0.29% of those infected have died Age 65-74 - 2.2% of those infected have died Age 75+ - 12% of those infected have died " So the below 75 really is low risk of death that's good.... right everyone back to normal.

"Here's a statistic: 100% of people who have died of it are dead. Pretty sure nobody's final thoughts were along the lines of "wow it's a good thing that only a quarter of a percent of people my age die from this"." Thank you for your contribution to the deeper understanding of science and statistics

Thank you for your contribution to the deeper understanding of science and statistics " My point was more philosophical. To the person dying, the most personal thing in the world is their death, it is their entire world. Yes there are many valid arguments about greatest good, bigger picture, cancer sufferers vs. covid sufferers etc. But far, far too often these arguments are trotted out just as weapons to defend inhumanity. I hope that every single person that says "it's only the old, they've had a life" will be ready for being scrapped themselves as soon as they hit 65. Judge not lest ye be judged. Excusing inhumanity by statistics does not lessen the inhumanity.

" For those who have asked this is the report. Posted it because it is INFORMATION or FACTS as opposed to speculation and theory. It's by the BBC's health correspondent Nick Triggle Posted it not because I am wishing somebody's grandma dead, as some over-emotional individuals seem to think, but because everybody needs correct information Some do not like facts " When you constantly point out that older people are more likely to die from it,when you strip all the bullshit away, what exactly are you saying?

They mean older people are expendable. It's bloody disgusting people's attitudes towards older people and vulnerable people being disposable, really makes me sick to the pit of my stomach how inhuman and lacking in compassion many people are.

"Last week 80% of all recorded covid deaths was in the home, if they died of a deadly virus that makes it almost impossible to breathe you would have thought they would have gone to hospital. Just saying seems a bit strange, or maybe they died with covid not from covid?" Or maybe the hospitals are unable to admit patients with low chance of survival Or maybe they all died from accidents like falling down the stairs within 28 days of testing positive for Covid which is possible if not probable.

Knowing it in a general way and seeing the exact facts are two different things. Lot of people on here mouthing off their opinion without knowing the precise details. Precise information is always useful - as opposed to personal opinion which is seldom useful - and there is any amount of that on here.

"Maybe vaccines should be given to older people first, and then cascade down the demographic. That way those most at risk might benefit the quickest." Fairly sure that's what will happen. Maybe health workers first to cut risk of them catching and spreading it, as they are in the business of being close to sick people. Then older and otherwise at risk people, though some of course can't take vaccines of any sort (like cancer patients or others with non-existing immune systems) and for their safety have to rely on the people around them being vaccinated. I imagine that using the existing lists of people who are given priority for flu jabs will be a good start.
