The UK is the fifth country to pass 50,000 confirmed Covid-19 deaths, behind the USA, Brazil, India and Mexico.

HOWEVER today Boris Johnson said the public of the UK should be proud of their government and everything they have achieved.....I'll be back once of contained my laughing.

Well look you can’t have it all ways, you can either complain that we include people dying within 28days in our figures which lead to nonsense like this.

Or you can complain that we are not doing enough because we are fifth in this table.

But here’s some info, whichever way you call it the same number of people are dead, they are just in different pigeon holes.

In Germany you could give a clear result today after coming out of hospital, die tomorrow & you wouldn’t be in their death stats.

All the while different countries use different parameters we don’t know fck all tbh.

I'm not 100% sure but I was under the impression we came in line with the rest of Europe in the way we count within 28 days etc. Completely agree dress it up how you please it isn't great, my thoughts were how Boris was saying we should be proud of them.

99% survival rate.abd still the goverent have spent 100s of billions paying people to stay at home. That is worthy of being proud off. All these covid deaths.....but we have simultaneously cured death from old age and natural causes in the same period of time

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

I suspect we will have a better picture when a longer term measurement of average annual deaths is compared to those this year.

The excess will be a clearer indicator of the actual number.

It's also a value that can be applied to all countries.

The survival rate would be worse if the most vulnerable hadn’t been shielded, as said above, the excess deaths in comparison to previous years compared with other countries shows a more realistic idea of how (bad) they did.

Firstly I don't read MSM crap my eyes are very open but the figures are figures the death rate is what it is. You talk of the billions of pounds spent, the UK isn't the only country to spend billions btw.

Have i missed something CURED old age death and natural causes ?? I don't think so somehow.

Don't forget the government has spent millions and in some cases billions to contracts that have never been fulfilled yet the money's gone oh and the head of those contracts are their friends in a lot the cases, but lets overlook that also let's forget about how cancer and mental health is being completely overlooked. You've got me I'm gonna clap at my door for Boris and his team every Thursday lol

Every country in the world has a different mix of ethnic percentages and ages plus arrange of health issues which will give rise to different death rates.

Add in different ways of counting deaths and it's very hard to judge.

Attendance and compliance with guidance was totally optional, and the figures didn't rise much until well after eat out

Think you'll find they did do something....the majority of them went on their 6 week holiday and so did Boris not 6 but 2 weeks so what they did was have a good time. Lol

To the other comment on here about complacency they were too slow to act this time too, should of been at least 2 - 4 weeks earlier

From someone who works as a chef and manager of a restaurant I can only speak about mine and a few other restaurants, they were not fully responsible, I believe the vast amount of non social distancing around pubs and hanging around the streets after 10pm was the main culprit along with house mixing and denial and a it won't get me attitude.

Perhaps Boris should of 're phrased it and thanked the lot who totally took no notice of lockdown,, the people who know they have it and don't isolate, the people who have been fraudulently taking money out the forlorn scheme. Think they should be thanked for landing the rest of us in the shit. So big thank you for fucking up the year, and the third wave coming in the new year. Because as usual , it's always someone else's fault.

Yeah yeah I'm agreeing with you, I'm saying they said the eat out scheme contributed but I'm saying the pubs were the ones that contributed more, I'm basing that on my place and other restaurants that others I know work at, whereas pubs have been horrible for those you have been in them

Boris and our Government exist in a totally different reality to the rest of us and if the truth does not fit their agenda then they simply lie and avoid questions, lie and avoid until the question stops.

I've never known a UK Government so deceitful as the one we have today.
