Did anyone see this last night?

For all those naysayers and people who who don't believe, it is an eye opener. Tell those people it's not real...

We watched it on iPlayer last night yes. Very concerning at things like agreed service level contracts being randomly pulled/cancelled by NHS England (presumably at ministerial behest?) I feel very fortunate that my gynaecological surgery took place in a private hospital (with NHS surgeon) in August.

This definitely belongs in this forum, it's Covid that's resulted in that (and all) hospitals having to cancel important procedures. People on that programme lived the entire pandemic with bowel cancer - 8 months for the thing to spread (and it did for the Hungarian gentleman). People with aortic aneurysms that could rupture at any time just left because they can't commit the ICU beds after the surgery etc.

It’s an amazing series, you should consult the archives and watch the 2 part covid special they made earlier this year. Amongst all the waffle on these forums and society it paints a very honest view into the frontline.

Agreed, last nights is incredibly saddening

It’s more complex than can’t commit the beds, there’s also massive fear of infection and to be honest many of these patients plus procedure and covid are condemned. I know in my hospital we have transferred all oncology to the Christie in Manc to provide a safe environment... its a long way away from what we wished we could offer though x

Yes, the Royal Free were trying to send their patients to the private hospital as a "green" zone. I had gynae surgery at the Spire in Manchester in August and was stringently tested, isolated etc beforehand. But seems central London got that rug pulled rather quickly. I get that using the private sector isn't cheap, but leaving people with cancer spreading for 8 months is a bit

I watched it last night, it's very interesting.

One thing i did notice that really annoyed me and i kept yelling at the tv was that about 4 of the hospital staff interviewed were wearing their masks wrong and had only covered their mouth and not their nose !!

I'm suprised they weren't told to wear them correctly !! I understand that not everyone can wear them but i was suprised that they were wearing them just over their mouth and not their nose !! On my many appointments in hospital since march i noticed that all staff i saw wore them correctly which was reassuring.

I was screaming at the tv, masks!!

They really shouldn't need to be told tho.

That was so good. I know this already because I work with some, but the NHS has some fantastic people working going above and beyond all the time. Wow.
