It will never go away, most of us will catch it at some point. The critical thing is to limit how many have it and need hospital treatment at the same time...

Covid, what covid. Four holidays so far this year and I've just driven half way across France and through Germany. The traffic was pretty busy, but checked in to my hotel and there's restaurant service an good wine so I'm happy.

It'll become endemic. But vaccine uptake will mean it becomes less of a problem, along with hopefully better therapeutics.

There are two ways out. Vaccination, or tracing cases (plus isolation of cases and contacts, and compulsory quarantine at the border). At the moment there are far too many cases in the UK to trace. It has worked in other countries.

It will never go away.

However, I hope that with a vaccine and greater understanding of the virus we will be able to manage it, as we do other viruses.

Once they start vaccinating, the government will change it's tune from ' cases went up 25%, we must introduce a total lock down' to 'cases only went up 25%, we can start relaxing the lock down'. They will use the vaccine as a way out of this overreaction.

Central

It's going to depend on the various vaccines efficacy and the population wanting to get behind them, to establish herd immunity here. Other countries will have similar issues, so some countries could lag.

I assume in 2 years we will have reasonable protection levels. The virus doesn't mutate much and if it's not being reproduced within the same high volumes of human hosts, it would have mutation with low frequency and impact, in all probability.

It can still reproduce and mutate in other places and be reintroduced to the UK by travellers.

It's going to be around for many years. It will diminish around the world with good health care and high vaccine take up. Vaccines will probably get better over time.

From how people were living over the last couple of months, they almost seemed to be back to normal. If the government suppresses it and relaxes businesses to trade fully, people would probably live for most of a year and assume it was an old problem.

The vaccines may continue to need at least annual boosters. Pharmacies will probably be the better outlets, though it could mean people stop having them, unless they are tracked and reminded and it's clear that the virus could regain power here.
