Family member positive in the house.....how long do you isolate for? 10 days as per the app or 14 days as per someone on the track and trace helpline who isnt too sure when you ask him....

How long to self-isolate

If you have symptoms or have tested positive for coronavirus, you'll usually need to self-isolate for at least 10 days.

You'll usually need to self-isolate for 14 days if:

someone you live with has symptoms or tested positive

someone in your support bubble has symptoms or tested positive

you've been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace

I'm as bewildered as anyone. I got a notification on the NHS for a 10 day isolation, completed.

Now I'm currently living in a hostel, but wasn't allowed out of my room, so we were all surprised when I got another notification, so completed my second 10 day isolation which I completed last Wednesday.

Friday, got another one, so I'm on day 6 of my 3rd isolation. Personally I love it as I'm getting work done, but I did have to break out today as some how I've picked up a urinary infection, and my wee is like gravy, so was desperate to get some antibiotics - didn't so will be in utter pain for the next few days. Grrr.

One good thing is they upgraded my room to en suite and a telly, so I'm actually enjoying my time out.

crazy. 3 isolations would drive many mad.

Depends when you came into contact with positive case and when they were tested and had symptoms but NHS track and trace are never really clear!

Currently isolating after getting a message last Friday saying isolate for 11days, thought it was a bit odd, but it seems the person I’d been in contact with showed symptoms from the Tuesday, so the 14 days went from then......

Basically if you test positive or have symptoms you isolate for 10 days

It is 14 days if you have been in contact with someone who has the virus or share a household. A household is a single person, shared house, support bubble or if you have been close to someone who has tested positive for the virus

Bit too much to expect for 7k a day. At least we've stopped calling everything world leading.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

From recent experience, I believe the isolation duration for those who have been in contact with a positive case is worked out based upon when their symptoms first showed up, the app automatically calculate this based upon the information submitted.

The test and trace people are going from the scripts, which must say 14 days.

How I understand it, your isolation period is based on when you were in contact with the other person and they first showed symptoms, so that would explain your 7 days.

The one case we had at school the child isolated at home the minute they found out the father had the virus, he tested positive 10 days later with no symptoms. So therefore the class bubble only had to isolate for 4 days after the test result was received
