So... Much was made of "the app"... The fact it was essential at one point in time, very very helpful at another, both sides made a lot of noise that is was either late and crap, late and secure and great.then we heard people uninstalling it because there was a risk it would ask you to isolate... And now all has gone quiet... Do many people have it? Use it? Been isolated because of it?

Let's not go into the saga of how it got here.. Just interested in what was at one point essential and if it is still considered critical in living with the virus

It's all quiet on that front. Never had it, won't have it, won't use it. I need the limited space for downloading games

surrounded by twinkly lights

I use it for work and when eating in or visiting places I'm going to be sat down inside for a period of time, not for quick takeaways as if there is a big queue im not going in anyway

Yeah I've got it.

Not much chance of me being told to isolate though as I rarely go anywhere.

Likewise...i wonder if it be more granular with its "traffic lights" system...

Ie is Aldis packed at the moment or shall I go and bulk buy my loo rolls later?

I've got it and use it every day.

Vallance has said test and trace is fairly ineffective today.

The Cummings affair ruined public trust in the various systems and the app has suffered as a result. Like most things, it's been subject to a lot of BS, that's affected use of it.

The most important thing is to have easy access to testing, fast results and to have 100% quarantined ifinfected. Tracing and testing those contacts of the infected is next most important thing to do. Payment for people to quarantine is essential, to make sure that they are not out of pocket and unable to afford to isolate.

I (Mr Stort) have the app and at the moment isolating until next week as it warned me on Friday morning before I set off to work that I’d been in contact with someone that had tested positive.........

local, but not too local

Everyone I know who has it and has been to the pub has been told to isolate.

I have avoided this problem by never leaving the house.

Iceland, but Aldi is closer..

Yes I have it.

Yes I use it.

It may have been late but the UK is one of a few countries that have such a system.

And it would be world beating if nearly every person that owned a phone downloaded it and used it.

Its simple and effective.

The benefits outweigh the negatives to not having it..

If you have been in close and prolonged contact with someone that has tested positive, you may get informed you need to isolate.

You can then go and get a test. My experience of testing has been positive, booked and had the test the same day and got the results within 36 hours.

If you are negative, you no longer need to quarantine.

Surely it's a small price to pay to ensure a speedy resolution to this situation.

And for those that think they can be tracked by it, you cannot.

It is all totally anonymous and all details of location and who you have been in contact with is stored on yours and the other persons phone.

Official figures say it's been downloading over 10 million times.

Yes I have it

However, I work in a setting where it needs to be paused. I then tend to forget to switch it back on after work.

So really I’m a bit rubbish

If you're using android, an app called tasker is great for automating things. you can set it to turn bluetooth on and off depending on your location. Well worth the £.

I have it and I use it. So far I've not been told to isolate (one of my friends has, she received the notification the same day that one of her clients got in touch to say that she had developed a cough and had also been notified).

Funny.

Doesn't matter how many times this bullshit gets explained, there's always someone who can't quite grasp the basics...

That's test and trace, nothing to do with the app.
