"It is a worrying amount OP, yes I know people will say there is a lag after the weekend but that normally means the numbers are low on Sunday and Monday but I don't think 102 and 151 are a low number " I agree the UK has an awful lot of susceptibles compared to most other nations which is why I've argued for money spent to shelter them, instead we've been giving stuff like 7 billion for a track and trace system that's pointless with contractors getting 7 grand a day, or the drag artist who's received 215 thousand pounds in furlough or the circus outfit that got 650 thousand pounds. Were spending money like it's going out of fashion but my opinion is most of it being badly spent. | |||

Also it will be interesting to know if somebody gets it a second time do they get less ill, are they less infectious there's just so much so we still don't know. | |||

The WHO estimates there's been 10 million cases so far and a handful of reinfections and it also showed no drop in antibodies for health workers!. More research required for any definite answers. | |||

Symptoms started more than 2wks after being sent to WFH in March, I'd been to Sainsbury's twice and out pushing on the street/park in my wheelchair. I'd not associated with anyone other than my household, washed my hands, sang Happy Birthday a thousand times and done everything by the lockdown book. But I was still the first in my house with mild symptoms on 30th March. I emphasise mild. Suggesting people who catch Covid have made a mistake somewhere to get it (ie it's their fault) is disingenuous. | |||

Unfortunately the scenes we are seeing in the NW currently aren’t too far off the levels we had at this peak. Effectively, times the death total by three to see where in reality we are sat compared to earlier this year. We have a few very tough months ahead of us, the various “I’m alright” posts on this forum just make me sick tbh :/ | |||

" Perhaps pull your head out of your arse sir... across the high infection regions services are being limited due to admissions, Leeds was the last area to declare service closures, Manchester, Birmingham and others have already done likewise. We are fast heading towards a huge problem nationally. None of those figures surpass covid deaths, and actually the impact on those areas and a lack of service is pretty much down to the behaviour of those selfish idiots who can’t get their heads round the facts. Another 2 bodies taken down to the morgue... we’ve shut two theatres in the last week and we already know from the rise in infections this time in two weeks we’ll be dealing with double the numbers of admissions, criticals, deaths etc. You can quote whatever figures you like but it doesn’t change the fact that in order to save those we can we have to section off large areas of our space, seal it and hope to fuck that we can manage the numbers arriving by ambulance. Firstly it's worth considering that the country is highly restricted to try to reduce the infection rate, and it's going up quite quickly right now. Secondly, surely everyone deserves to not have their life cut short by a preventable disease, even if it's just by a few days... Most of the top 10 causes of death are not infectious with the possible exception of passive smoking but that's really been tackled in the last 10 years. Covid is something we can try to limit and if we don't then the death rate/toll/numbers whatever you want to call it will escalate just as they did in March and are starting to do now. I’ve just come off 13 hours straight in PPE, another 10 people into our now expanded ICU. Another 2 bodies taken down to the morgue... we’ve shut two theatres in the last week and we already know from the rise in infections this time in two weeks we’ll be dealing with double the numbers of admissions, criticals, deaths etc. You can quote whatever figures you like but it doesn’t change the fact that in order to save those we can we have to section off large areas of our space, seal it and hope to fuck that we can manage the numbers arriving by ambulance. Your outlook is so utterly naive, so disregarding of the huge lengths that are being taken to keep infection as low as possible and also to treat those who are critically infected.
