Level zero..

I think it's a fair point to raise, it's not exactly been shown to be a good policy..

If we are all about regional differences in decision making then yes certain areas which have very low rates could be with the proviso that checks are made to stop people from higher areas travelling which sort of negates the whole thing..

I don't think the government have provided specific evidence that's driven much of their actions for quite some time, such as imposing the 10pm curfew.

When they get to feel it appropriate to project blame again, they'll start to trickle in the definite focus on to others, including the scientists and possibly the exact 'evidence', which they've taken a pause from.

They know it's going to get worse in the eyes of the public, so have perhaps calculated that they can't induce blaming the scientists fatigue before then.

Personally I prefer the way Sweden has done it. A pragmatic and sensible way of doing it that has maintained social cohesion and consent and not hit their economy as badly.

No matter what people say I will not be swayed in that opinion. I am entitled to express my opinion and don't really care if people disagree with me or not. Have a nice day ya all.

No or we will be heading to tier 3 quicker than we are, I hate to say it but we see people in tier 3 and that encourages social distancing more and more and loads of mask wearing outside now, because we don't want the restrictions they have

I suppose what the 10pm curfew does mean is less big groups of d*unk and none sensible people around the city centres late in the evening and early hours of the morning; whether this means that they are getting d*unk earlier who knows ?

Mush like many of the measures it is going to be impossible to accurately determine the effectiveness as there is no base line to compare them to.

so maybe the rate goes down due to the curfew, but is it due to the curfew or would it have gone down otherwise ... we will never know.

I'll agree that the specific restrictions are not necessarily evidence based. But failing the government pulling its finger out, I don't think "we're medium risk so we should remove the restrictions we've got" holds water. Tier 1 is still bad. It's just not catastrophic like some areas (including my own).

The government have just redefined bad so that "oh my god this is terrible" is now "we're ok and this isn't a big deal". It's still a big deal.

You're in "oh my god this is bad" rather than "oh my god this is terrible" territory (seems to be splitting hairs to me). Cases are rising everywhere. Don't be complacent.

Yeah as Swing says, 44 is only a teeny bit less awful than 50. The real worry is that the new cases curve has been doubling every week for the last month or more, and currently shows no sign of slowing down. The deaths follow the new cases curve, but about three to four weeks behind. So we can be pretty confident that the current daily deaths of approx 150 will double to 300 daily by next Friday, 600 daily by the Friday after, and (unless we can get new cases down to about zero immediately, like today!) going up to over 1000 a day by 13th November. Which would put us back to where we were in April.

I really do hope that I'm wrong.
