I'd say doctors was your 1st call and they can hopefully point you in the right direction?

Awesome isn't it.

I'm trying to do one guided meditation or mindfulness exercise a day and is making a massive difference.

Stepchange is not mental health, it's for debt advice. Which is useful if a person's mental health is being affected by debts.

Just wanted to say thank you to the OP. This is probably one of the most constructive posts I have seen in here for a long time.

Good first step while waiting for docs to refer and wait for an appointment.

It was quite a delay last year but now it's about to collapse with requests.

I wasn't thinking as a replacement for mental health support but I find it's very good for low level mental health issues and for general self care.

I’d also recommend doing a grounding meditation at least once a week, outdoors and barefoot, especially with all this bollocks going on.

Mindfulness is something I believe everyone should try and practice on a daily basis.

I remember introducing it to my girls when they were younger and it's amazing how it's helped them later on too in just managing stress.

Yeah well-being would be like financial stuff as well. Step change is the old CCCS. Very helpful no fees debt management organisation.

I agree. I do alot of distress tolerance and grounding is part of that. Anyone who is in a real crisis obviously should reach out for support immediately but also look up tipp skills.

I've been an advocate for many years that it should be a compulsory part of the curriculum.

Central

I'd recommend specialist sites that deal with limited issues too, as many of these can help to minimise the perceptions if isolation or feeling an oddity, that some can feel. Obviously it will depend on the condition and what has been established to support people with it.

Edited for stupid spelling errors!!

As someone who has dealt with depression and anxiety for years, this is a great thread.

I have lately been falling asleep using you tube guided meditations.

Personally I have found Dauchsy or Michael Sealy the best channels for falling asleep to, and various binaural beats channels if having a daytime meditation session.

It’s absolutely not a cure all or substitute for proper, conventional treatments, but it’s helping my moods and definitely helped keep my head above water mostly. I still have my meltdowns and bad days, but they definitely help me

Stay strong everyone

Undoubtedly your GP as a first step, they will have the database of local charities and organisations who can provide a number of counselling services, advice etc and importantly your GP can also discuss medication if required.

It’s quite important to gain a network of support in normal times when struggling with mental health issues and as such I think taking a detailed local view is far more beneficial than calling a national charity and just being presented their offering.
