I've just briefly read a synopsis of what he said.

Nobody has calculated what human life is worth in terms of what being spent on corona virus measures. He doesn't believe it's worth the cost in monetary get or to mental health and other health issues that are now being neglected

Every human life is priceless to the people that know and love someone but to everyone else they have a price. It is very subjective.

here

“At no point has the Government or any government anywhere in the world tried to calculate what it's worth spending.

We've shied away from the question of what human life is worth.

It's too dangerous a subject.

Of course we do do this in many other contexts. If we're going to build a bypass we say, 'how many lives is it going to save and is it worth doing?

But in this context, we haven't.

I'm pretty sure that the money that's been spent, the ruin that's been brought, the mental health issues that have arisen, the cancellation of the cancer operations, the number of people who have developed other diseases, the mortality of those people who have not been treated.

I'm pretty sure all of that is not worth the lives we may have saved.

But no one is willing to calculate that.

I think at some point unless we have a vaccine soon is say, 'this thing is going to be around and we will them for have to think who is going to live with it and who is going to be excluded from it'.”

You could think of many ways were human life is as much the currency as the currency itself, to be valued or de-valued.

Many industries and work practices cause shorter lives. Poverty causes life to end much earlier than it should. Access to health care and health education shortens lives every single day. Doctors make life and death clinical decisions every single day. NICE makes decisions on every single new drug with regard to cost and how many saved.

But could you imagine even for a second that ANY Government would dare to say that Herd-Immunity is the Plan and that the upshot is going to be many many deaths of those more vulnerable to a mortal outcome.

If it worked - the 'saved' masses would sing hallelujah - and justify the means.

If it didn't work the masses would say 'fuckers' I knew it was wrong all along. Hang the bastards.

But Humans really don't think outside of . . .

* Themselves.

then

* Their Family Unit.

then

* Their Local Community (usually just meaning their City/Town).

Then

* Their Country.

Riding right through any of this is their 'politics'.

And sometimes they don't think at all.

Portillo is usually right about most things.

Too much truth for the BBC who cancelled This Week and replaced it with the shockingly bad Brexit podcast type discussion rubbish.
