"Over one million deaths worldwide, directly attributed to Covid. Many more ill in varying degrees. So which bit isn't real, then?" Every Year: 6.7 million die of hunger, 797 million have no access to clean water, 17 million die of heart disease. So far this year 9.7 million from other communicable diseases (i.e. Viruses) 1.2 million by HIV/AIDS, 6.1 million from cancer, 11.8 million smoking, 1.8 million alcohol. The list goes on but we never get bent out of shape over all of these?

"I've just become aware of this term and I've engaged in some frankly ridiculous conversations with an outright covid denier and it's made me curious as to why in times of uncertainty and/or fear that some people go to denial about the scale of a challenge, particularly one where there isn't an end in sight or an easy way out, and find comfort in denial or scepticism. I find it fascinating and frustrating in equal measure and was wondering if anyone else is getting frustrated with covid scepticism/denial?" On the contrary, I am more frustrated with the hysteria and paranoia. It is causing way more devastation than the virus, some of it permanent. The response is disproportionate.

"Can someone please explain Sweden to me please?" Yeah, they did not have a government/scientific elite which employed overt scare tactics, so they had a calm and reasoned response and mostly voluntary restrictions which they followed. Older members of society at large shielded themselves, but they kept their children in school, and businesses open, so while their death rate was fairly high neither their society nor economy was decimated, and so they are further towards herd immunity than other nations, and living life cautiously, but freely. I somehow doubt they will have as many thousands of unnecessary deaths from the total shutting down of their health system either - untreated cancer and the like. Has anyone estimated these? I bet they will be 10 times the Covid death toll this winter if we don't develop a sense of perspective sharpish.

Or are you saying that we should only be concerned about the single biggest cause of death? I personally think that there is a big point that is being missed in this type of narrative: The World is in lockdown, and STILL over a million people have died. Saying that it isn't a bad as all these other things is just missing the point. Also, I personally think that the point people should be making is that 6.7 million people have died of starvation - wh should do something about that, 800 million people have died through lack of access to clean water - We should do something about that, 800 thousand have committed suicide, we should do something about. Obviously though these red flags that many are waving don't stop these people from going out to the pub or shagging strangers, so they are not important enough to tackle... they just make a convenient EXCUSE for not doing the right thing. Annoys me that some people think Sweden didn't do anything at all in response to the virus. But we don't mind seeing Covid deniers on here, means we can easily add them to our 'Never Meet these people are Idiots' list.

"Can someone please explain Sweden to me please?" Sweden didn't mandate a lockdown like many countries and are often held up as an example by countries who have had high infection & death rates as proof that lockdown was not required. In reality, even though Sweden's outcomes were better than the UK's, they were actually MUCH WORSE than it's neighbouring countries. Contrary to common belief Sweden actually DID lockdown but it wasn't mandatory like most others, it was a voluntary action. It's also not true that their economy was unaffected, with a 25% reduction in spending (only slightly better than it's neighbour Denmark who enforced a lockdown) and a 60% reduction in domestic travel.

"It's because they are stupid. " Some will be, but it’s more likely covid sceptics are just fearful people, who are more scared than usual. It’s not a coincidence that most seem to also believe every other obvious delusion doing the rounds, whether it’s chemtrails, 5G, anti-vaccine, Bill Gates / George Soros / whoever has a secret plan - if it’s clearly and observably false, they’re on it. All we can really do is ignore them - unfortunately in the internet age, there are plenty who seek to profit from the scared and gullible. It’s the modern medicine show, and ’covid sceptics’ are the marks.

" Something I've never understood. Died WITH covid means they could have died for example in a car crash and just happened to have covid when they died. In other words covid was not the cause of death. Whether relevant or not depends on what you're measuring.

Calculations this week showed that actual infection numbers in many areas are 4 or 5 times higher than have been revealed via test numbers. That many low paid can't afford to miss work and wages, thete is a financial reason that some may not test too. And the asymptomatic have not been tested, thus ignoring a huge proportion of infection numbers

"Some people don’t believe it’s as bad as they being told Coz some of the data doesn’t add up Also if a group of people took vaccine they still can’t mix so what the big headlines if their not sure if can catch it or spread it also nothing in news about the welsh nurse that had covid when was better had the jab then after caught covid and died Plus some people don’t believe everything they been told Here's something to ponder. What if the situation is worse than reported? What if we aren't being told the whole truth because it's worse and would cause panic? What if there were friends who work on govt advisory boards who shared some insight. It may not be the whole reason it's not all revealed. Calculations this week showed that actual infection numbers in many areas are 4 or 5 times higher than have been revealed via test numbers. That many low paid can't afford to miss work and wages, thete is a financial reason that some may not test too. And the asymptomatic have not been tested, thus ignoring a huge proportion of infection numbers " Yep so hears another question that I thought I knew the answer to.... But I believe the science had changed recently. Asymptomatic infections don't spread to others. The source I read was the bmj from a few weeks ago. Now until that revelation I'd always assume asymptomatic were spreaders as well... But the paper in the bmj appears to say they aren't. Any experts on here that can clarify from science rather than Facebook much appreciated.

Or is this deduction because asymptomatic people don't cough and sneeze and therefore don't spread it as easily?

It seemed to look at families where one was infected by asymptomatic and the fact that Co habitants did not test positive. https://www.bmj.com/content/371/bmj.m4851 It's only one paper but I juts wondered as it's from a reputable source if it is just an outlier piece of research or if it has merit.

"Over one million deaths worldwide, directly attributed to Covid. Many more ill in varying degrees. So which bit isn't real, then? Every Year: 6.7 million die of hunger, 797 million have no access to clean water, 17 million die of heart disease. So far this year 9.7 million from other communicable diseases (i.e. Viruses) 1.2 million by HIV/AIDS, 6.1 million from cancer, 11.8 million smoking, 1.8 million alcohol. The list goes on but we never get bent out of shape over all of these? All of those preventable and treatable. Covid is a new disease that is/was not understood." so why have they not been prevented then? know one cares because the tv is not ramming down their neck everyday and it's not on their door step and dose not effect them directly, and in fact because we reap the benefits from the exploitation of those who suffer, we take the "see and blind, hear and def" three monkeys attitude. shits landed on the door step now and it's real and that's why people are writing posts like this due to fear
