Halloween and Bonfire night?

I reckon national/local lock down will be enforced for two weeks over Halloween and bonfire night, to try and keep people away from each other! They can't realistically have councils running firework displays and have hundreds turning up in the same place. Also to keep people from having parties at Halloween and to stop all the kids on mischief night and doing trick or treat door to door. Just my thoughts anyway! Anyone else feel the same? Or would you still takes kids out trick or treating?

glasgow has already cancelled their fireworks ages ago and the christmas light switch on event

the point of these speculation threads is lost on me though ... unless people hope we have some govt insiders on fab that might leak ... nobody on this forum knows what dates if at all bojo is putting in a new lockdown... same with all the christmas is cancelled chat... its 3 months away , nobody know and all you are doing is stressing people out and getting their backs up for something we don’t know is happening yet

i dont think anyone thinks about the ripple effect of their posts ... unless the point is to add to peoples depression and tip them over into hysteria

Halloween will happen here, as will Christmas. Granted they may be different from how they have been in previous years, but they will still happen & still be enjoyed. Rather than focusing on what is different, or what is missing, I much prefer to look at all the things I still have & be grateful for them.

I will be celebrating Halloween... it's one of the most important events of the year for me.. winter solstice too.

Probably just a few people will be with me for both but that's pretty normal anyway.

I'll still be decorating the house for both x

That would tie in nicely with the two weeks over half term lockdown theory I've seen mentioned in the media. Half term week would start 26th Oct so adding the week after to block out those events makes it seem more likely

They've cancelled new year fireworks in London.

As for trick or treating, if you can't mingle with your own family why would you be taking sweets from strangers to bring back into your home?

Now autumn is definitely here - the comfy joggers and hoody are out, I'm intending to make autumn and winter as cosy as possible.

I'll be asking the landlord if me and my housemates are okay to have a small firework display in the garden, since all others will be cancelled.

Hunker down, candles everywhere, get cosy, mulled wine and cider to make reading and watching TV just that bit more enjoyable.

I can still enjoy life without transmitting a virus that could seriously damage my loved ones, if they died then I wouldn't be celebrating anything, so its in all of our interests to stop passing this virus along to each other

Agreed.

When I encounter those who complain I remind them that a lot of the time in this country, life was centred around small villages, hamlets and crofts, where either just an individual farmer lived, or a small cluster of families.

I'm not saying it's perfect or ideal at all. However each emyear, communities and individuals would have been stuck inside largely, from November to February.

If they could do it, we can endure it.

Fireworks have already been going off for week So unless they ban sales of (or other supermarkets go the way Sainsbury have), council /organised events being cancelled won't really make any difference.

Kids are off for a week end of October but our flights to Germany were already cancelled weeks ago

my little un has been on about halloween since she went back to school but me and the ex have explained to her she wont be going trick or yreating this year.she getting more upset as year goes on.birthday party was sposed to be 3 days after lockdown started missed her first holiday abroad. no halloween or fireworks.there is no way we are ruining christmas for her
