Percentage numbers that following a survey by Kings college are following the quarantine rules after contact with a positive covid person and the latter is those who have symptoms who are isolating..

BRIDPORT

Not surprised to be honest. Fairly reflective of the compliance with other measures like distancing and social gatherings. Total lack of personal responsibility and just hide behind the ‘it’s all the government’s fault’. Not that the government haven’t made some big mistakes, they have, but the lack of individuals taking responsibility for their own behaviour is sad.

"Where did they do the survey? North West?"

Not sure but it was about 50,000 over several months, my thoughts are it could be to do with the UK wide covid symptoms app they have been running in conjunction with one other major hospital..

Front page of the FT..

I can't find it online.

I thought maybe the data was skewed if the survey sample was from a hard hit area like the North West or whatever area Bradford is.

Looking at it again it's yet to be peer reviewed however it makes some interesting points about why some are saying they would but then didn't, income etc..

Perhaps we should treat this as a referendum on how the government should handle this situation. Somewhere between 82% and 89% of the population believe we should carry on as normal.

Or because of their economic situation they have literally no choice but to take a risk with others health..

The safety net for some has huge holes in it ..

And here's the bigger problem. Everybody cried out that the old Track and Trace system and App was a failure. Sky are reporting that only 1 in 5 took notice or completed the whole period of lockdown if showing symptoms.

But at least with the old Track and Trace and App they had contact with people.

The new App that everybody really cried out for (yes I know it was privacy too) relies absolutely and totally on each and every one of us to self-isolate or get tested if we get a Notification of being in contact with others who have reported symptoms.

Somehow I get the feeling the 1 in 5 is going to be even worse.

I am not defending the old App in anyway at all - but sometimes we really should be careful what we wish for.

There are some areas of the economy that are excluded and when you get that in such a crisis then sadly if it's lose your home etc people will if they have it mild themselves go to work or not turn down the chance of casual work to bring some money in..

"Perhaps we should treat this as a referendum on how the government should handle this situation. Somewhere between 82% and 89% of the population believe we should carry on as normal."

As Mayors in the North West and others have been pushing for appropriate funding for those who have to quarantine, the inevitable reason that people go to work etc, when they should be home alone, is that millions can't afford to. It's not endorsement for ripping up the restrictions, which would overwhelm all health services, with a totally out of control infection rate that would impact on the economy and all aspects of society.

They're now giving £500 to the poorer on benefits, which is insufficient to pay rent and energy bills during winter. People will go to work.

And with testing and tracing services overloaded now, it postpones people learning that they should quarantine and leaves those who should be quarantined and tested, also the spreaders of the virus to even more people. This is what will cause exponential growth in infections and deaths.

Soon the government will end up in an economic situation where they have no choice.

If you are on benefits/not working then isolation doesn't affect your income....so you just get an extra "bonus" £500?

If you are working just above benefit threshold. ..your income drops to zero and you get no help?

Is that what you and these mayors are saying???

And then again, between 82% and 89% of statistics are invented by people supporting an agenda

The way I have taken it in is the exact opposite of what you have asked.
