Maybe that’s what the army are going to be used for. Nailing the dormitory doors shut.

Can you imagine? Those poor students. Freshers living away from home for the first time, unable to socialise or make friends, shut in their rooms as all teaching is online, and now told they may not even be able to go home at the end of term?

What is the point of having them at uni at all? How bad will the mental health crisis be because of this?

Totally ridiculous suggestion which 99% of parents won't stand for.

Maybe, and loads of students. Getting into massive debt to try their best to get a tertiary education without access to lecturers, labs, social and sport clubs, friends and family. They are not all animals.

It won’t happen. One of those ideas they put out then retract to make us feel grateful .

Good job for my son that he's living with his girlfriend and her pal in a private flat and I'm abandoning them to go abroad for Christmas (if we can). They have their own little household to spend it together and I have every intention of going away anyway.

I feel sorry for new uni students. Can't be a fun experience.

Glad my youngest decided to go to Uni in Cardiff and stay living at home.

Think things will change back and forth a few times before Christmas though as it is still a long way off.

they should have stayed at home and had virtual teaching done. If everyone, else, is supposed to work from home Why can't they. So if Hancock does this we in Durham can expect further flouting of the rules by the students.I'm not against the students but I just know what will happen.the numbers will go up. I've seen it many times including this afternoon 4 meeting up go in somewhere without masks. Here, in the N East we don't have the rule of 6. We have similar restrictions as in scotland. No two households are supposed to meet up indoors in gardens or outdoors. We are in local lockdown. Have they not been informed of this. This government needs to set out measures every single person can understand not this some can do this and some can't. It's a total mess. I thought Boris, was leading this country I'm not sure about this now. Even the scientists can't agree about what is best but the ones who are closest to the Pm are taking us down a path which will have, huge implications for many years to come. Get the scientists together to discuss the problem. There is more than one path to try. You would think

Surely if they are isolating they are actually showing a bit of maturity and community spirit etc..
