If that's all he comes out with I'll be very surprised indeed.

I don't use pubs and can take or leave restaraunts, but they could have just closed them down and not given any leeway at all.

Not ideal, but the alternative would have been less palatable for many.

Shutting them at 10pm makes no difference at all. Just proves that he's too shit scared about his jolly Boris facade to take the really unpopular decision to shut them completely.

Why does the virus come out at 10pm?

Where's the logic behind this tripe?

The pubs and restaurants taking another hit. Makes you wonder how these businesses will survive.

I dont know what the answer is but I do worry about people and their businesses, finances, and their mental health.

Suicide deaths are rapidly increasing, it's a huge concern.

What has not been removed from any lockdown regime we have had is the Legal Right to Protest - It's been there at the foot of everything passing of Covid Legislation.

What has been added recently has been 'in a Covid secure way'.

It's a difficult one for democracy in any sense that 'Protest' should or could be lifted even for a while.

We simply have to accept that they will feature while the Pandemic persists.

Fundamentally one of the principles of this democracy yes I agree however we are or are being told not in normal times..

Be interesting to see the stance taken on such things..

It's ridiculous.

So we can't catch covid before 10pm then - or catch it from strangers that aren't in our groups of 6.

If your out after 10pm your at serious risk of covid. But get home 9.50pm and your safe as houses in the knowledge you can't get it before.

It's all a load of crap now, can't do this here but can do this there.

Can't mix households here but can look after all families kids.

Don't mix in groups of 7 in your garden but play sports or hunt grouse in huge teams.

Go to work, don't go to work.

Surely I'm not the only one sick of it all now. At least with lockdown everyone knew where they stood. Not saying I agree with a new lockdown now at all but all these contradictory restrictions aren't helping at all.

East Lancashire

It will be a reiteration of his earlier messages re lockdown and warnings of what may happen.

"Go to work, but dont go if you can work from home, unless you have to go to work. Dont use public transport to work, unless you have to, but work from home if you can, unless you cant. In which case dont use public transport unless you must. Dont mix in groups of more than 6, unless you have to go to work, but dont go to work unless you must. Be home from the pubs by 10, unless you work there, in which case dont go home at 10, unless you can work from home".

Same message as last time written by DomCum and delivered by BoJo. It will be confusing and contradictory, punctuated by fist thumping on the desk and missing the key ingredient.........use your common sense and help yourself by helping others stay safe, and vice versa.

It's absolutely astounding that people can't seem grasp the simple concept that the measures being taken are to LIMIT the spread of the virus not prevent it as has been the case since the start.

The level of stupidity is increasing at a far higher rate than Covid

The level of compassion here between swingers is a joke

The "togetherness" we need to fulfil the promised journey to success after brexit is going to be impossible given the number of people that don't give a fuck about anyone but themselves.

the, answer, was get a test system up and running that works. Six months on and we have a shambles. Italy have, a, good test system now, so what's our problem. We, were, promised a million tests, a day back in March then Boris said we, will ramp it up to 2 million. Tomorrow he, will probably promise 3 million. We are, woefully short of these figures. He is, the leader of this country...Boris Get it sorted. Knock some, heads together. Do your job and stop coming out with 3 word mottos that make you look foolish. Grasp the fact you ain't Churchill

Calling people stupid and selfish doesn't tend to lead to togetherness.

I'm afraid the country has gone down the same route as the brexit debate. Two sides calling each other names. The joys of the internet.

It's also amazing that people can't grasp the concept of 10pm closures too . . .

Of course Coronavirus knows how not to be contagious after 10pm - There just simply wouldn't be any people in the pub to be contagious with.

1 Pub closes down for 2 hours per night = 14 hours per week - if only 5 people had attended that pub after 10pm and for that 2 hours then 70 hours of NON CONTACT between those people would have been achieved.

Just 1 Pub 14 hours 5 people -

There wasn’t contact in the previous 10/11 hours ! .... so you can have your 70 hours back.... now, realistically, get 6 mates together on a Friday or Saturday night then the pub shuts... are they (rightly or wrongly) going off to one of there houses and finishing their evening in a less controlled environment?

Or maybe five people go to the pub earlier because they know it will be closed later, the pub is more crowded than it would otherwise be and the virus spreads more easily.
