So speculation is that after government meetings and all that, the prime minister will again address the nation and set out new measures for the winter.

Obviously people all have their individual thoughts on the pandemic, but ultimately what measures would you like to see put in place in order to get us through the winter?

I dont know

I can sit here and criticise the decisions made til the cows come home, but tbh, I dont have the answers

Would i have done a better job of protecting 68 million people?

Probably not

What I DO know though, is that we HAVE to get the testing thing sorted. Including flu jabs. And quick

Or we're in deep doo doo

Wash our hands, keep our distance, wear Santa masks indoors, and no more than than 6 in your house apart from family.

Better testing, quicker testing results, more stringent enforcement of rules.

Clearer guidelines on what can and can not be done, it's all lost on interpretation at the moment.

Go into bars and some have everything sorted out, very efficient. Others don't appear to be doing anything.

People have got to loose that 'I'm alright Jack' attitude and realise this effort is for everybody's benifit.

Oh and a cure, that would help too.

Pretty much on the money.

Fancy being prime minister? Question is how do you make it happen...?

Here’s an NHS worker viewpoint. Better handling of calls from those who think they have it. Set up testing centres properly. You get seen if you need a test you get it if not then you don’t. Isolate over 70’s apart from family. And then they wear masks. For the rest of us if you leave your house wear a mask from start to finish. Limit social contact and properly enforce the penalties for those who don’t or won’t comply. If we don’t act then we are in for a disaster of a winter. Rant over!

Regardless of what the Government announce it's the People and only the People that spread the virus - it's not like there is a Government minister or employee in every shopping line, pub and restaurant spreading it and yet we just love to blame everything they do as if somehow it's nothing to do with us. It's obfuscation just because we don't want it. It might have a pleasant hopeful 'this is how I want want it to be ring about it' but COVID is still here when that argument has fallen silent. And that delusion has become most of the Worlds worst enemy.

We all know what to do already - lockdown or no lockdown.

I want People (Us) to just take a few seconds to think what it is that we can do. It's really is child-simple-stuff. Not like the fully grown woman who reached over my shoulder in Starbucks today to get her sandwich from the cold shelf. Not like people finding any argument to deny the facts this is really happening. Not like the guy I saw sp*tting in the street. (cripes). etc etc etc.

Total strangers need to stop writing to me for full-on sex meets.

The sooner we do - the sooner this ends.

Sign me up, I'd give Boris a run for his money.

I guess it's about accountability, setting people in positions who responsibility it is to see theses measures are followed through.

Its no good just standing in front of a microphone on TV or radio and saying these words, they need to be put into practice.

Think another response in this thread makes a good point too about people who get tested and making it more focused.

A lot of money being spent on this testing could be better managed, it appears as though there has been a lot of 'off the cuff' decisions made to try and look as though things are been done. Whereas a little more thought could have saved money, resources and given a better service.

That's an easy one OP. I would implement the exact same measures that I was advocating in February when I was told I should wear a tin hat. The same measures that have been applied successfully in other parts of the world.

Giving the right people the responsibility for test and trace, buying resources from reputable companies and having stricter enforcement for the rules.

A large proportion of people of all ages have stopped taking precautions, many walk by the sanitising stations at supermarkets now instead of wiping down their trolley and using a bit of gel on their hands.

People have stopped worrying about consequences and keep finding an excuse why the rise in cases doesn't matter.

Personally I feel we are already in trouble, the government have been slack, wishy washy and just ask people nicely to which a large amount of people just ignore.

I don't think there is any choice left but to implement another lockdown because clearly trusting the public to do the right thing doesn't work.....

Sadly have to agree but we cannot have a total lockdown but we need strict enforcements of rules and the army used to do this.

Probably you wouldn't have given loads of money to companies to provide PPE that never showed up.

Probably you wouldn't have put unqualified people in charge of running test and trace.

Basically anyone who actually prioritised protecting the country over giving fat contracts to their mates would have done a better job.

How about we find all those "scaremongerers" and kick their backsides because clearly all their terrifying of people into mental unhealthiness wasn't sufficient to get them to be responsible.

Next time please scare the living daylights out of them so they don't leave home!

Minimum of futlough pay for people to quarantine when requested to do so.

The public announces our requirement that test and tracing must be fixed ASAP.

This is the beauty of the internet, people troll through all the information and pick out the bits that best suit them. Then they repeat it over and over again, as it justifies them not conforming to rules or regulations.

In my cloud cuckoo land I would magically make everyone responsible and have them look after themselves and others.

The issue being that some people either don't believe that covid exists; or don't believe that they will catch it; or don't believe that they will be ill if they do; and don't believe that if they are not ill that they MAY and i say may KILL other more vulnerable people they come in to contact with.

Oh yeh and i forgot to include the fact that they dont give a shit about any of that, because Jack they are alright and so what does it matter who dies as long as they are okay.

Humans aren't prepared to give anything up its the nature of the beast it would seem. Still going on holiday selfish selfish people.

Full lock down as its very clear we can't do this on our own.

Get this testing situation sorted and quick as the season is now against us.

Isolate people who are at risk and stick with rules which we have been given. Hopefully that should be enough not to overwhelm the NHS and then the rest of us can earn a crust.

In truth I think the damage is already done and we are going to struggle to contain a massive upturn in hospitalisations and deaths in the coming months. All the signs are there, we’ve known the risk of flu season for months and neither the government moves or publics behaviour have done anywhere near enough to keep levels at a rate where we can realistically control them. We are too high up the growth curve to reverse it now, in the same way that we locked down too late in March we have again missed the boat.

People have talked about improving testing, track and trace etc... all good points but in reality we cant cope with the numbers involved now or realistically make effective changes in the short time remaining.

We should brace ourselves for a number of pretty hard months ahead in my view.

Whilst not condoning anyones lockdown breaches, I don't think even the biggest of Tory fanboys could even remotely argue that those labour breaches done as much damage put together as what Cummings' escapade did.

If you break the rules it would be nice to see a police officer community officer or someone there to highlight same.

Around our way the virus is deemed a hoax by so many same people giving fake details to track and trace zero social distancing going on and claims it's all about government control

All while a virus is playing havoc with the economy the people and the liberties of all

Quite frustrating
