Door Marshall’s are a great idea. Stop the free for all and reminds people the need to socially distance.

Sad that they need reminding.

We were always told that if we don't behave and the numbers start to rise then measures would have to be taken.

Some people didn't seem to understand this and we are now all gonna have to put up with certain restrictions.

“Again”?! It shouldn’t have stopped; that it did is part of the reason why we are now facing the second wave.

Funnily enough we went to Sainsburys and they had the queuing set up outside, we hadn't shopped in there since the beginning of lock down so don't know if it had stopped in the meantime but as other shops have stopped with the queues we did think we would shop there instead from now on

Is this the same forum where a couple of weeks ago some of us were calling the people "heroes" for putting their lives on the line to create herd immunity???

Is this the same forum where people said that it was good that the virus was spreading because as long as fatalities were "low"?

I'd just like to know. Because it seems to me that the same people who complain about the actions which need to be taken as a result of high infection rates are the same ones encouraging the spread.

We are facing the second wave because people are absolutely oblivious to this virus people are still having parties people are still meeting up when they say about you can't get the infection when you're outside that's just complete bs

I would agree this point but add that whilst some have not as there are those who never will listen some others will no doubt have been a bit confused given one minute to it's lockdown then it's eat out to help out etc, opening up travel and wanting offices staffed again.

Which might have all been do able if the track and trace system wasn't do poor and once schools opened there were enough tests..

It's ok for the like of Hancock to try and deflect from some of his governments failings by putting all the blame on the public like a lecturing teacher but the reality is far more complex than that..

I think our government still has some kind of herd immunity agenda. It is only the public outcry at the loss of life that dissuaded them from making it official policy. So now we go through the motions of giving the appearance of trying to prevent the spread while our actions say the complete opposite.

Remember them saying lockdown was just so we could keep the numbers down so we could last through to summer? When the numbers were down we could have contained this virus the way countries like New Zealand etc have done.

We had our chance. We blew it.

Agenda or incompetence..

The former they should come clear about if it is the case, the latter they will like most political parties never fess up to..

We had months to prepare and get both track and trace right and enough testing capacity ready but as they failed it's limiting their options now..

The system of adversarial politics restricts how some things, brexit and this are managed when some things are above party politics..

Maybe we all get what we deserve in preserving the status quo..

The red bulb was removed because it violated people's liberties. They are looking at doing the same with traffic lights. People are complaining that having to stop at the intersection infringes on their human rights and is a draconian measure used to limit their right to free passage...

People are meeting as theyve been told its ok to... simple... eat out, play team sport, go to pub, get back to work etc etc. If youre told you can do stuff you enjoy after 4 months of not being able to do so, then of course people will do things theyve missed. But we are all arseholes for doing so. The only thing i am fearful of is the fact that fear has caused division in the people. Turn the news off, dont buy a paper, and dont listen to the radio, and believe me, youll feel a whole lot better

It's been one of them things when I read certain poster on here is they always want the easy option...Sweden gives them the easy option as they see it as less disruption to them.

Then their is the ones who post that the virus has weakened...we have better medication now...its mutated so it will not harm us.

The fact of it is...that it was and will be a deadly virus for a long time yet.

And all the wishing for it to go away will not work...just because it inconveniences their lives.

I think you are spot on.

This applies to the general population and to the government too. Herd immunity was a no expense, no effort or organisation solution. Small wonder it was so attractive as an option.

Scientists are saying the virus has weakened. But then we need to lool at "why". They are proposing that people are infected with a "lower viral load" because of masks and social distancing. I see this as an argument to continue the use of masks and social distancing, not as a sign that it's safe to ignore the virus.

My son has just gone up to uni in Preston where they have a high infection rate, down here you have to queue to get into the range on a Saturday afternoon but apparently up there you can just stroll on in (this is from my ex-husband, I didn't see it first hand) but if this is what is going on, no wonder things are on the up.
