From today, the Scottish government will stop counting patients who no longer have Covid. The first minister explains, 'lots of people are classified as being Covid patients, even if they have recovered and are being treated for something else.'

Scotland’s hospitalisations figures have apparently dropped from 262 to 48.

surrounded by twinkly lights

They really don't help themselves with gaining the publics trust, they should have a separate from the gov reporting body not interested in cooking the books

Bizarrely it seems that if you had tested positive for Covid at some point in the past but then got admitted to hospital for some other reason you were counted as a Covid hospital case.

The Scottish first minister has apparently acknowledged this and their figures are being adjusted accordingly.

Was the Hitler comment I meant lol

Isn't it a good thing that that kind of counting has been stopped though... Been far too much cooking the books on numbers throughout this

I’m all for publishing the data, but for gods sake make sure it’s accurate. All it does is provide ammunition to those who think it’s a conspiracy.

I'm guessing that things were setup very quickly, when we were in crisis mode and it was only later that it got realised that what they'd created wasn't fully intelligible, to mean what it should have.

England had been counting anyone who'd died of anything as a covid-19 death, if that person had ever had a positive test, however long before and however unrelated it was. This caused major discrepancies to build up as time progressed. That's generally been sorted now.

I can appreciate some things being set up hastily can introduce anomalies. Couple it with some level of incompetence in government doing it and it is likely to be invisible to their limited viewpoints

I welcome the clarity, it finally allows us to judge accurately whether the control measures are in fact justified.

Nationwide, we have less than 50 people hospitalized with Covid. Consistently less than 10 in intensive care.

Granted, infections take time to filter through into hospitalizations and the rise in cases is still fairly recent but I would have expected to see at least some upward pressure by now which so far hasn't appeared.

Clearer information is always good, now if only they could normalize the dates for their statistical reporting to make correlating the data less of an ordeal....
