Rule of 6

Jump to newest

By (user no longer on site) OP

It's a bloody joke, I understand why they're doing it but honestly the government/law are asking neighbours to report each other for not following rule of 6...

Its turning into ww2 Germany with the Gestapo again no doubt ...

But I can never report anyone for .. ..being normal, socializing.

Could you and would you report?

If it was a full on party next door then yes.. If it was family members then no... 2 couples both with 2 kids then I don't see an issue. But that's my view. Obviously there has to be a line drawn somewhere and for what ever reason the powers that be have picked 6.

A bit of a strawman leap there OP, hardly gestapo territory.

We're living in 'interesting times' right now and there seems to be either over reaction or no reaction as the immediate response.

I can't say that I would report them but I sure as hell wouldn't be joining them.

The guidance is (apparently) intended to keep us/vulnerable people safe, so I'd rather not play chance with that, no matter how flamboyant the comparisons become

I’ve kept pretty much to the rules throughout but what I just don’t get with this rule is that I can’t invite my sister in-law and her kids to dinner with my family as that would make a group of 8 but we can arrange to meet in a pub with 2 tables socially distanced from each other with a lot of other people, it’s crazy.

they had a massive party 2 weeks ago and put that down to the notting hill carnival being cancelled.

they even had site toilets outside the property due to the numbers.

Yes. It's beyond easy to understand, I am so sick of hearing endless excuses why people aren't following the most basic instructions. Sections of the public have shown that asking nicely and explaining doesn't work. Given that I have no desire to have lockdown measures for longer than is absolutely necessary, enforcement is now looking like the best option.

Are we all really getting as mad as Boris? Abandoning civil liberties, snitching on our neighbours, cancelling Christmas, letting our closest relatives die without their families in attendance, and closing the NHS to any other illnesses. Surely this is not the Britain we want. Every death is a disaster for someone, but we will have to live with the virus for a while yet.

They had it right in WW2. Keep calm and carry on.

Afraid not, less died in the blitz than have died of Covid.

The two situations are not really comparable, both in terms of the threat faced and the willingness of the population to do what was needed to find a way through it. In the war, generally speaking people sacrificed comforts and personal pleasures for the greater good. Whilst there are still people doing that now, there are many more selfish people now than there were then.

The whole situation is nuts, you cant meet more than six people who may be two families or all part of an extended family, but you can meet 5 other people from 5 other house holds !

then later the same day you can meet 5 other people different to the first 5 yet you still can't meet your family of 7 ! Unless you meet the mum and half the kids then when they leave meet the dad and the other half of the kids .... Is it only me that cannot follow the difference in risks here ?

Nope. Not my circus, not my monkeys.

I pay taxes to ensure those with invested powers do the policing. That's their job and the covenant they have with a civilised society that pays their wages.

My end of the bargain is to follow said rules for the greater good of others and worry about my own, not other people.

Only when their actions impact on my own would I consider it, but it's less trouble to remove myself from a situation (exit stage left !) than cause a situation and become part of it.

So the government are encouraging you to report your neighbours if they don’t follow the new rule of 6. Before following this advice you should really consider the fact the government won’t be there to help you jump start your car or lend you tools if you needed it. They won’t be an extra set of eyes to watch your property if you are away. They won’t keep an eye on your kids if they are playing in the street and someone strange is hanging around we need each other it’s how we get by and live in peace because at the end of the day they won’t be standing there on your door step to help you out when shit gets real. Asking you to report people in your community is a scummy thing to do and it shows their mentality dishonest and ?? all of them biggest law breakers and abusers in the country.

Just seen this and wanted to share

Reminded me of when the gestapo wanted people to report their own if they were harbouring Jews in the holocaust.

My mum and dad have their 53rd wedding anniversary this week, my mum has cancer, none of us know how long she has left. This virus has already jailed me to a separate country unable to visit, it has stopped me and my children from hugging my mum when she needed it most and it has bought her spirit down so low when she needed to be positive for her own mental health.

So when me and my 4 siblings and our 11 children go and celebrate the loving marriage and support 2 people who might not have long and who have brought us up and given us everything and nursed us when we were sick.

Sorry, if you are going to report this, families, you don't know what they are going through behind closed doors. Don't presume to know.. and if you don't give a crap then you are pond scum in my eyes.

And breathe... sorry guys. Obviously a very raw and emotive subject. Also sorry about the grammar, just done a 14 hour shift.

Please think before reporting. You can't take it back once its done. Humanity ... humanity is more important than rules.

I was just trying to explain the super6 rule to somebody, I think I have it right and this is what I wrote.

It isn't as straightforward as I actually thought, when I tried to explain it to somebody else.

Of course maybe I've got it wrong myself but I don't think so..

"I think -it is 6 people, they are calling it "super 6"

It's not necessarily 6 people in your bubble, (that can be your family and your support family and can actually be more than 6 people if the two households together do come to more than 6, so long as one household is 5 or less people).

The super 6 could be 6 people this morning and a different 6 people this afternoon, including yourself.

They are saying in your house or garden, or at your table in a pub or restaurant or the park.

It can be a maximum of 6 people regardless of how many households that 6 people are from.

You are still supposed to stay at least one metre away from them, 2 metres if possible.

Your support bubble however you don't need to stay any distance away from. You can only see your support bubble plus friends though if that numbers is less than 6 in total.

How confusing are things getting!"

It's so unbelievably simple yet so many people are like toddlers.

It's an infectious virus that people catch when in close proximity. Stay apart. Wash hands. What don't people understand.

The more people you are close to, the more likely it is you will catch it and pass it on.

I specifically stated the blitz, estimated casualties, 40,000 - 46,000. And wanting to see your kids and grandkids, yes I get people want to, however the virus doesn't give a toss if you are related or not. So if you are breaking the law to meet them, then yes, that is selfish behaviour. Like I said before, I'm sick and tired of people finding "reasons" that something doesn't apply to them.

Some of the households near me have been breaking the covid-19 rules from the start, especially to do with non residents of the house visiting etc.

It's tempting to report them.

But there is no point.

As no one will follow it up anyway.

It's the same as when one person from one household within a 100 meters of me, had been reported on a number of occasions, by various people (not by me, as I didn't find out till after) during the winter on previous year for being over the limit in a morning (still stumbling d*unk at times), when the police are running thier anti-drink-drive campaign & nothing was ever followed up.

So we live in a massonete. We have 5 neighbours effectively.

My upstairs neighbour which we share a garden with I would report. They are a family of 6 - 3 kids, mum and dad and grandmother in a small flat of 2 bedrooms. They take the piss normally. So I would report them. We are having issues with them anyway. The fact we share a garden is the issue

For others I would probably take it on a case by case. If they were playing loud music till 2am then maybe I would. However if they had said we are having a small gathering are you ok then maybe not

"It's only day one and the rule has already been broken in Brighton, Bristol and London

And anyone is actually surprised?"

Not really, no - but then as always the rule was badly thought out. If you have 3 kids you can see ONE other person. If you have 4 kids - you can’t see anyone - that’s complete isolation.

As covid is almost certain to be a long term issue - that’s non sustainable and detrimental to mental health.

In answer to the op’s question - I’d probably report a full on party - but not a slight infringement.

And for what it’s worth - I totally lost respect for the government when they tried to coerce people back into the office to support the coffee bars etc - and introduced’eat our to help out’ to support pubs and restaurants - who sends my daughter and her 1000 peers back to a crowded school - but then blame the public for infringements when cases get high again.

As usual Grouse Shooting was Cherry Picked as the 'Headline' just to MAKE a HEADLINE . . .

The list of organised sport or licensed outdoor physical activity that you can do in groups of more than six includes:

Angling

Baseball / Softball

Basketball

Canoeing / Kayaking

Caving

Climbing

Curling

Cricket

Dodgeball

Dragon Boat Racing

Equestrian

Floorball

Football

Gaelic Sports

Goalball

Hockey

Hunting - some forms

Ice Hockey

Lacrosse

Netball

Octopush

Polo

Roller Sports

Rowing

Rugby League

Rugby Union

Rounders

Sailing/Yachting

Shooting (including hunting and paintball that requires a shotgun or firearms certificate license)

Ultimate Frisbee

Volleyball

Other sports or licensed outdoor physical activities may also be permitted where their governing body has published guidance.

All supervised activities for children, including sports and exercise groups, are permitted where a risk assessment has been carried out – up to any number of participants.

When participating in organised sport or licensed physical activity, you must not gather in groups of more than 6 before and after the activity. You must also ensure you socially distance from people you do not live with (or have formed a support bubble with) wherever possible.

When playing sports informally with people you don’t live with, you must limit the size of your group to 6. It is illegal to do so in a larger group and you may be fined.

"So the government are encouraging you to report your neighbours if they don’t follow the new rule of 6. "

If they can’t follow a simple law then they are not trustworthy enough to keep an eye on my property and not the sort of person I would want any help from. Same goes for people that happily stand by and let others commit a crime and just ignore it as “not my problem”.

They kept coming round to a house in our road, they had a BBQ with next door. Everyone was spaced out, but the people who had a grudge repeatedly called the police. They had a drive by, they ended up a burger each for their trouble.

"Yes.

It's so unbelievably simple yet so many people are like toddlers.

It's an infectious virus that people catch when in close proximity. Stay apart. Wash hands. What don't people understand.

The more people you are close to, the more likely it is you will catch it and pass it on. "

I understand the maths, but I am more likely to catch it from the 5 people I meet for lunch, the five people I meet for a BBQ this afternoon; and the 5 people i o for dinner with than my sister her hubby and her 5 kids who cant visit me now !

Well, the skeptics are finding their voices at last.

In Ireland, Dr. Martin Feeley -- clinical director of the Midland Fields Hospital Group and a senior executive of the Health Service Executive, Ireland's government-funded health care system -- just made his dissenting views known to the Irish Times.

He said the lockdowns that we were told were essential can no longer be justified in light of what we now know about COVID-19.

The lockdowns, he added, disproportionately harm the youth -- and "you can't postpone youth."

"The financial cost," he said, "can be seen in any walk or drive through cities, towns and villages. Mortgage repayments and other financial setbacks are virtually all suffered by the young worker or business person and not by the over-65, who are guaranteed their pension, as indeed are the salaries of the individuals who decide to inflict these draconian measures...."

Dr. Feeley condemned the obsession with "cases," a contextless number that only panics people, when we should instead be focusing on hospital strain:

“The number of deaths among recent cases is less than one in a thousand. This data reflects a disease much less severe than the average annual flu. The media reaction to these cases, ie, with the gravity appropriate to reporting deaths from a major catastrophe, borders on hysteria. Opening a newscast with the number of people testing positive for a condition less dangerous than the flu, which many don’t even know they have, is scaremongering.

Yeah well don't get too much of a hard on over this.

The HSE have distanced themselves from him and his comments are opinion not bolstered by any scientific evidence.

Saying that "Covid 19 is much less severe than annual flu" just show's how stupid this man is.

At this point, the lockdowners are trying to invent a utopian country where no one dies.

And also the government know full well the six thing is a none starter, otherwise they wouldn't have panicked the covid wardens into play simultaneously.

At the beginning they actually admitted lockdown has a limited shelf life, that was the excuse they used when asked why they didn't do it 2 weeks earlier, folk may want to cry on here about '6' rule breakers, and it makes good media. But in reality the horse has bolted,

Get over it.

Can't see "your house, your rules" carrying much weight in front of a judge. Especially when you admit you know exactly what you are doing. Pretty good way to destroy your own defence.

"At this point, the lockdowners are trying to invent a utopian country where no one dies.

And only you're smart enough to see it?

We truly are fucked then.

"Yeah, let's keep everything shut down when figures actually show deaths are lower than this time last year.and that's with the covid, At this point folks are freaking out on covid cases which mean nothing.

I think that's why folks ain't buying what gov and media are trying to sell. "

How many brain cells exactly does it take to work out the fact that the reason for the fall in Covid cases, not to mention colds, and influenza

Hint it starts with lock and ends in down

I know it's a hard concept to grab but even a goldfish will eventually get there.

I'd suggest you look into declaring your house an independent state, otherwise learn to accept you live in a country where you are answerable to the law.

I am adult person, i know exactly what i am doing and my house my rules, as long i don't do mess or disturbing neighbours they can suck my cock, bunch of clowns

Only if you have a cock that is longer than 2 metres!

Your neighbours are gay circus clowns? And you want them to perform oral sex on you? You do have some pretty specific fetishes. Hey it takes all sorts."

I now can't get those images out of my head, literally laughing out loud here.

Nah not sorry. This is too much fun. Picture the scene:

A bunch of gay clowns pile out of a clown car. They spot a cock sticking out of a glory hole in that guy's house. They hurry over to the cock, tripping over their oversized shoes on the way. Then they fight over who gets to grab and suck the cock 1st. But it's all slippery. So they keep losing their grip. One clown's hand slips off the cock as he jerks it, he accidentally hits another clown in the fake red nose with a honking noise. The hit clown falls over, knocking another clown off balance. That clown staggers and falls, getting jabbed in the eye by the cock. They all flail about, fighting each other. Eventually they sort themselves out and agree to take turns. But by then they notice the cock has cum and there's a puddle of jizz on the ground. So instead they scoop it up and fling the jizz at each other like cream pies.

Those that say yes, get reporting as I for one will not stop seeing my family whilst pubs/restaurants etc are still open and functional. My Christmas will not be ruined either! Because we are a family of 5, the new guidelines state I can not even visit my parents? I dont think so. Life goes on

"

And if someone hadn't reported him then we'd not have known what he got up to would we?"

The absursity of your position is that nothing DID happen to him. What DID happen is it's created a total amount of distrust for the system, an antagonist attitude toward the police (which isn't great anyway at the moment), and inspires McCarthian levels of facism in our own citizens.

So if we run the scenario again, you'll find that had people NOT known about Dominic Cumming's foul up, we'd have more reason to think reporting people would be a GOOD idea, because we'd actually think it was something that would be applied to everyone.

So we're stuck with one law for the rich and one law for the peasants under the thumb of the system.

I wouldn't report a family just wanting to spend time with each other. We've gone so long not able to see each other. Our teenage grandchildren have been happy to be at home with us, we've had some great times and they don't seem bothered about going back to pubs and clubs, but we may have to, now that we can't meet at home.

Only spoke to family etc via phone or zoom so what I'm trying to say is I'm not some D*** that has no respect for they system or others but I do not understand how you can eat/drink, learn, attend weddings, funerals and sporting events but I cant take my children to go see their nan and grandad?
