If they think that they can get away with it, then they'll just not do it. If they know that they WILL be checked up on, then they may be less likely to take the risk. Cal

"You miss my point , i HAVE taken responsibility and done the right thing , im just airing my views as to how many actually got a phone call or visit ? , im a big boy and did the right thing , just. Frustrates me when the majority in our society in general dont ,social distancie, non mask wearing , " going to work when " feeling rough and showing symptums and will just muddle through the day when clearly they should take a test ( not all work places do a temp check etc , most still rely on the honesty of their employees ,too many are adopting the " it wont happen to me attitude , im too young , its just a bad cold this virus , well its real, its killing people , it doesnt care who it gets , young, old, rich, poor Healthy , previously ill , we are all at risk ! " You did a fair bit of whinging about it but it appears you did the right thing

Cal" what i find interesting about this is i know someone that keeps sharing these posts about how she wants to bring up her (currently 5 year old) child by teaching her right from wrong, whats the moral thing to do and kinda go down that path rather than use punishment or fear of punishment for motivation for good behaviour and yet here we are all generally accepting that unless grown adults have at least the fear that they will be checked up on and fined / punished, we couldnt possibly expect them to comply with rules

Perhaps if that minority had been introduced to responsibility and morality when they were younger, we wouldn't need laws and fines to deter people being self centred.

It would be great to live in a society where everyone does what they should, but currently if we didn't have laws & punishment then we would be over-run with theft, murder, violence, etc...

No wonder we’re seeing numbers rise seeing as so many selfish people are travelling unnecessarily. Socialising in large groups. Getting too close. Refusing to wear a mask. Blaming the government for everything. Talk about a nanny state. Do people really find it so complicated? Keep your distance and keep the number of people you see to a minimum.

We'll you didn't because you didn't NEED to go on holiday you WANTED to go because that's what you'd do every year so why change anything ?? Ps I'm talking a generalisation here and not you personally, regards you I'm glad you got back safe and didn't pick anything up and are safe and well

They get a few fines that go up to €3000, then get tagged and slapped with a few weeks in prison if the violate the curfew.
