"So will shops still be open as usual?"

I would imagine so. Maybe leisure outlets would be on a cut down of hours - but all the rest still open.

Except that there could come a point, with all these new rules and restrictions, where a large number of people get to the point of saying "fuck it" and cease to comply altogether?

For lockdowns to work in a none communist country you need public goodwill.

A lot of folks may not want to hear this, but that ship has sailed.

Let me guess, everyone you talk to is on the verge of refusing to follow the guidelines

Yeah, and it could get to the point where I fly to the moon but that’s incredibly unlikely too.

This is Britain, we don’t do mass civil disobedience regardless of what Covid deniers have wet dreams about.

Just a general observation in my town /Road from about 1 month in, lyin about 'flattern the curve', Cummings gate, kinnock gate to a lesser extent, travel gate, mask confliction, sanctimonious media.....list goes on

Got the phone-in on now, and I'm not kidding, anger factor on both sides is worse than Brexit...

Next week's heatwave is a tinder box....

Exactly.

These 'anti covid mass demonstrations' are a miniscule of 1% of the population and are made up of fanatics from loads of different groups - anti vaxers, struck off 'medical professionals', self proclaimed experts, and conspiracy theorists of varying degrees of delusion.

We live in a democracy and that means majority rules - not a ragtag bunch of what I can only politely describe as intellectually challenged misfits.

Yeah, people who call phone ins are definitely a fair reflection of the country as a whole and not angry, lonely people, for whom ranting on a phone in is their only chance to talk to someone all week.

"So will shops still be open as usual?"

Yes shops/pubs etc still open and you can still meet outside your household in a pub, but you can't meet in your own home/garden

The Government probably looked back at the mass civil disobedience over Brexit "Farage and his tiny band of walkers" and probably pissed themselves laughing

We may live in a democracy but unfortunately if that 1% are loud enough our country seems to yield to their every wim and command. Its a sorry state of affairs. The masses end up suffering because of a few who still think the moon is a made of cheese.
