It's not like people haven't known since March what all the potential problems are going to be.

Go on Holiday. Have a brilliant holiday. Gawd knows we all need one. But for crying out loud build the 'potential' into your planning instead of moaning 'OMG!' I'm on Holiday and now it's everyone but me who's fooked it up.

I have been away a few times. I accept the consequences of what I need to do when I return.

It’s a fluid situation and people need to stop moaning about having to quarantine and accept it as an inherent risk of going away.

Some people had holidays booked and paid for with a certain travek agent that went bust last year.

We had a holiday booked and paid for with our travel agency we were lucky they still had our money and were able to rebook us a holiday earlier this year but it was cancelled. So on their advice we have booked a 2 week holiday to Corfu. It would appear that Bojo father spents the summer there ao according to the travel agent BoJo looks after his owm.

Not really. People going on holiday know what they are getting into. Seen so many post here saying 'why didn't they tell us so many X hours earlier I wouldn't have booked.

Since FEBRUARY there has a WORLDWIDE PANDEMIC. Hardly been a secret huh?

Like I said - book a holiday if you can accept the outcome on return and if you can have a super duper holiday. But don't moan if it doesn't work out.

Everyone knows when they go away there is a risk involved now, if that's catching covid or the country being placed on the list. You go abroad now knowing those risks so no one should complain if it all goes tits up. While more costs are involved having to change flights etc, the people going away should account for any changes with their holidays.

I think that some are trapped between a rock and a hard place. If they had a trip booked already, without the government issuing a "don't go there" instruction then people can't cancel without losing their money... and nobody likes throwing away their money.

Personally, I wouldn't take the risk.

We've holidays booked and if they get cancelled that's fine if they don't we'll go and if quarantine changes when were away that's fine too.

If we do manage to get away then we'll take the same precautions as we do at home having carefully weighed up the risks to ourselves and others.

Obviously things are now taking a turn for the wors so if the holidays we have already booked are cancelled we won't be rebooking until we see how the situation develops.

Choosing to book a holiday during this period is foolish, but spare a thought for those who booked it last year and perhaps it was a case of take a chance or lose money. If you're wealthy it's an easy choice.

Well it's our turn to contact Ryanair this afternoon.

Booked and paid for flights to Cap D'Agde in January, supposed to fly this Tuesday but decided to give it a miss.

Flight still going so it's either rebook another flight or claim on insurance.

Spoke to insurance who are ok to pay out minus excess, as all booked before Covid.

Ryanair will let us rebook new

future flights.

Looked at a short break in Spain after Christmas and although the actual cost of the new flights are less than original flights to France the final cost for both of us was £190 more.

Cost for changing flights, cost for changing baggage to new flight. Each increase doesn't seem too bad but its per person and per flight, out and return, so its increase x 4.

Think just claim on insurance.

Maybe I'm missing it but I've not seen thread after thread of people complaining about having to quarantine after holidays.

I am seeing thread after thread of judgemental posts about people going on holiday.

Anyone booking a holiday now to go abroad knows the consequences yes.

Anyone that booked pre pandemic didn't and most people pay months and months of direct debit for their holidays.

Some can still go and quarantine, some can afford to throw thousands of pounds out the window. Some cant.

Let's try and remember this section is for supporting each other though.

What about people that aren't going abroad on holiday? Going abroad not necessarily means you are automatically on holiday. Some people live in the UK but have their entire family in other countries and I think it is normal for them to go and visit them when they haven't been able to see them in god knows how long. I went away to the canaries knowing I would have to quarantine but I still went . I paid £6000 last October for the holiday. I would have lost £3000 if I didn’t go. I went I had fun and I came back.

I've done nothing but cry all afternoon wondering what I've ever done to upset you.

I blame Covid, cabin fever,Michael Gove, the new labour fella, Putin, the Chinese bloke who had bat on toast and loads of other people but not me.

Well, I feel much better now.

No idea, usually some expert telling us how it most definitely is going to pan out, the subject matter is generally unimportant the fact they are expert is.

Usually read the first couple of posts or the really crazy ones are fab.

Anyway, what were you saying.

"Some families have been abroad and rule changes mean that some scramble back to avoid an isolation..

Awful situation..

But why go ? "

Awful?!!

You go abroad for a holiday during a pandemic, knowing travel restrictions can change. They change then you start fetching and whining?

Give me a break!

Birkenhead/Liverpool

We're away now. The club is closed indefinitely, we're stressed to death about our business, the staff who rely on us and everything else which has come with this shitshow. We had vouchers to use from cancelled holidays and have used them. We've taken Covid tests to fly, we've filled in a multitude of forms to enter the country, we've agreed to test and trace/quarantine if needed and have factored in quarantine when we get back home if needed. This is the first 2 week holiday we've had in donkies years because of the club, so we are going to enjoy it while we can. We don't and won't feel guilty about it as this has been a year from hell and we don't know what our future will look like.

So in short, we knew the risks, the country we are in is SUPER strict and we will quarantine if needed. Anyone who moans about restrictions, inconveniences and possible quarantine, didn't think and plan carefully enough before travelling xx
