A question for you all. . . . If you won't download it, please say why, it would be interesting to hear what your reasons are.

And please can we keep the sniping (whichever side you fall on) out of the answers.

1. Will be you downloading it and using it?

Lots won't they dont give a fuck about others and don't think they don't have to isolate if nobody knows they have been near people with it.

Its a sign of the times the world is full of so many self orientated people.

Too little too late, our bungling cuntservative government is 4 months behind the EU getting an app up and running. China had one in March. We have the worst death rate per head of population in europe.

Noone is in charge

It takes note of other peoples phones with the app that comes close to you. think if it like the winks here then if someone tests positive it informs all the people who were close and winked at them.

the one being trialed on the IOW was the governments own one they were building and realised it didn't work.....

this one coming in has basically been built for various countries as a joint project between apple and google, and then tailored to what the UK government want

Android too . . .

Go to SETTINGS/ (cog wheel) Then click the Search Magnifier and SEARCH 'COVID' and it will bring up 'EXPOSURE NOTIFICATIONS' Turn it ON if you want 'NOTIFICATIONS'.

Read the 'Learn More' to learn more obviously lol.

The Framework APK was installed back in April on Android Phones as part of the Update Service.

Sorry. I missed the search word out.

Should have added:

To find the COVID APP APK itself Go to SETTINGS/GOOGLE and the 'COVID-19 exposure notifications' should be at the top (if your phone is up to date).

I would say yes. I do have issues on how precise it is though.

If I’m in a restaurant/bar but nowhere near the person who subsequently tested positive I’d have issues about being told to quarantine for 2 weeks.

People need to understand how the Google/Apple App works.

1. It does NOT send data to ANY Public Health Authority or Government Department.

2. It uses Bluetooth to detect the presence of another user of the App close by. (*this has limits see below).

3. Each user of the app is assigned a random number.

4. If one of those random numbers (users) has reported (in the app and only the app) that they have symptoms of Covid or have been diagnosed as having Covid then the App queries all other users that may have been in the presence of that user using an algorithm that counts thing like . . . Length of Time others may have been in the presence of . . . when . . . etc.

5. It then sends a Notification to all random numbers (users) that were near - date - time etc to that user. And advises that you then Isolate and look for symptoms in yourself.

6 It does NOT at any time inform a Local Health Authority or Government department.

7. The ONLY time that a Local Health Authority or Government Department can get access to knowing that a user has symptoms is when they present themselves to a Doctor or Hospital etc.

It totally relies on all of us doing the 'right thing' and isolating if the app informs you that you have been in close to proximity to a user of the app that says they have symptoms or has been tested and they test says that they are positive.

*The Bluetooth inaccuracy problem - you can test yourself - if you have Bluetooth speaker connect and wander around your house - Bluetooth is very low power. Also Idiots may report themselves positive even if they are not, thus making 'responsible people' get tested or isolate. etc. People may genuinely mistake symptoms they have with COVID Symptoms and report false positives, again making other react in and inappropriate way.

PS. The app cannot access your Contacts or use you phone.
