Here's a cheerful article for you, a man in Hong Kong who had Covid in March and recovered has been confirmed as being reinfected.

This isn't going away, some scientists have already suggested that it may become endemic and we will just have to adjust to living with it

There is a man in nevada as well, both reinfection's were different genetic strains to the original infection though (not peer reviewed)

We can catch Flu and Pneumonia each year too.

Hopefully a vaccine will put us in the same realm each year of living with it, or we become more and more tolerant of its effects.

The commentary from the virologists I listen to basically said this: this is consistent with other corona viruses (the four endemic common colds). The first infection, in adults, may be severe, but reinfections are likely to be mild. The endemic coronas typically infect us very, very young, which means when they recur they're only an irritant.

However, first infection with SARS-COVID-2 is potentially dangerous unless we're very, very young.

We had 2 or 3 forum posts on the reinfection evidence that was published a few weeks ago.

We don't know that much about the virus and the illness that it causes yet, we're learning as we go. The better updates are those that arise from credible sources, where there's peer reviewed evidence.

Whilst coronaviruses are named similarly, it is because of their physical characteristics, not the disease symptoms and features. We can learn about this one by studying it, rather than assuming it will be similar to others that are known. We should expect the unexpected, so that we don't miss chances to learn.

Indeed and instead of the complete 24/7 fearmonging campaign put out constantly how about we have a more positive outlook and a campaign on best ways how to boost your immune system.

Through out all of this i have never seen on the news or from the WHO or anyone really talk about anything except masks, vaccines social distancing.

Where is the advice on best foods to eat that can improve immune systems, what foods best not to eat that destroy immune systems.

The importance of a good 30-45 mins of exercise on improving the immune system.

The best supplments (vit D, zinc, high strengh vit C) to add daily to boost immune system.

I can't believe that ive still yet to see any of this mentioned to get people ready for winter.

Sure a healthy immune system can still catch a cold or flu but the fact is a healthy immune system will fight it off quicker and with less symptons.

It could be the difference between having 24 hour sniffles to being out of action for a week or two.

Fear and stress also weakens the immune system and the amount of fear the media are putting out over this is criminal.

2 there are vaccines and treatments for flu

Not a lot of research has gone into common colds. That's possibly changing in conjunction with research into SARS-COVID-2. But they're low risk so not much need for investment.

Coronaviruses also don't carry the same level of genetic drift as flu type viruses, it's much lower, so a vaccine is more likely to work (although waning immunity is likely).

The guy from Hong Kong made headlines, but the scientific community regard him as the exception, not the rule. He was asymptomatic both times he had the virus. The virologists I listen to (This Week in Virology) are unsurprised by the fact that people get reinfected
