The message I get is that people have given the government their consent to make changes to their way of life in order to combat the threat of covid. What they are unhappy about is that the govt has abused it's trust with this consent and has introduced rules with no scientific fact or basis which forcefully take away people's rights and liberties. | |||

Because of this social distancing hasn't been an issue for me. I am very skeptical about the effectiveness of masks. Yet wear one in enclosed spaces out of respect for other's. However as stated on another thread we are hearing with increased frequency that this is endemic. So my question to people (that very few are answering) is do we live like this forever if it is proved it is. Because that doesn't sound very appealing to me. | |||

" I don't think it is endemic going by the stats who are getting it at the moment, it just causes more problems for some people ( not just old and people with conditions ) But yes, we had the same conversation the other day, how long do we live like this ? Our life will be fine for what we do to be honest and it doesn't bother me with the distancing and masks either,there are a couple of things I miss doing but I will live.... but I went out the other day and realised just how much life seems to be on hold still. People are going to get fed up sooner rather than later ( some obviously already are ) so I don't know how much longer the restrictions should go on for. On the other hand I am going to contradict myself and say, without the restrictions we may never get rid / limit it. All in all..a bit of a nightmare | |||

All in all..a bit of a nightmare " See I'm 40 years old and there are a lot of things I miss. The people I feel sorry for are the 16-30 year olds. It's not just about us it's about everyone. We seem to be happy to sacrifice the lives of the young to protect the lives of the vulnerable. That sort of logic doesn't sit well with me, especially if this does end up being endemic. I don't want kids coming up to me in years to come saying what was it like at a festival (for example) | |||

" Once upon a time it was possible to denounce a woman as a witch, laws forbid such practices now. What you want may not be possible. As a society, we don't go backwards, only forward. This is a period of change that nobody wanted, but here we are. Using terms like hiding away are emotive, to borrow a star trek expression, it's life but not as we know it. | |||
