"Ah feeling a bit sad today at the whole school situation. My youngest might not have the same school experiences as my older children. Dropping her off at school, socially distanced, parents aren't allowed near the school to give her a hug at the door when she has separation anxiety. The school assemblies parents get invited to; seeing them excitedly waving as they walk into the assembly hall and being able to see your happy smiling face; not a scary herd of strangers wearing masks the school discos and not being able to dance because of restrictions, no happy singing in assembly due to restrictions. Residential trips, will they go ahead? we have just had ours refunded for March. Contact with the teachers? Can the teachers console them if they are sad and give them a hug? Our teacher has a tape square around her desk that the children aren't allowed in So different to the school we know. Feeling really anxious and sad dropping them all off this morning I hope the virus goes away soon. " It’s heartbreaking isn’t it - I keep reminding myself that kids are so much more resilient than we give them credit for. They also have a fresh new school year and this is their normal. I wish people would respect the guidelines and kids could get a proper school experience rather than this sterile half school. Ps as a teacher I would definitely console an upset child it’s what we do so don’t worry about that xx | |||
