York

according to the bbc and the gov.uk website there have been only 3 deaths in england in the last 24 hours. With that in mind is it not time to reduce the restrictions to the lowest level, ie everything open, certain social distancing put in place for theatres cinema etc. Should the death toll remain this low then maybe relax the mask rule

And what makes you think the deaths wouldn't go back to 1000 a day ?

Very true. I have one every year, due to my condition, but when I contacted my GP I can't have it til begining of November! I thought shielders were to be vaccinated first...? X

They are.

Make sure your GP is Aware and if not you can book in with a Pharmacy.

I normally have mine in October.

Exactly this.

I don't understand why some people still keep mentioning lock down when we've been over it ages ago.

They’ve changed the rule around how they report deaths. They are currently only reporting people who have died within 28 days of a positive Covid test. So there will a lot more people who are died as a result of Covid who aren’t counted in the figures

Ease restrictions slowly and carefully monitor the results - remember deaths will lag new cases by a couple of weeks - look at what is happening elsewhere in Europe if you want to see what can happen with going too fast.

Theatre one of my work places would love them to open but.

Look at the top London theatres like Lion king profit was about 40 to 50% a week so would need at least 50% full to be viable and on average at least 60% of the audiant wad tourist from out side UK witch keep the ticket price high so how would you make it pay... smaller theatres struggle to brake even after staff roilteys etc it will be a long time before they have a full house

What do we do then carry on using the old method where you could for all intents and purposes never recover from it in England ? How absurd was that. Personally I cannot believe how stupid that was.

Lol, you believe the Government?

According to our Government only around 45,000 pople have died from the virus.

Central

Nom very short term periods of data aren't appropriate for statistical modelling to be used by the government. Decisions affecting millions need to be influenced on robust analysis, that's reflective of the very complex system that it is.

It was stupid but what they have now is a bit stupid too. A younger or generally healthy person won't die in 28 days they will typically take 6 plus weeks to die.

autumn/fall,winter whatever you call it, transmissions will be higher.

Any wagers?

Sorta feel like a timestamp is needed 2/9/20.

lets see what happens with a full retraction of lockdown.

I had the virus myself, I have never gasped for breath like I did for nearly two weeks.

It was suspected I must have had the virus, though they never properly tested me,despite the cost involved of taking me to the clinic late at night and back(they took blood pressure and temp..that was it). I felt they didnt think I was a 'keyworker'(despite being one(food distribution in warehouse setting), I'm also mixed-race so the possibility of being more susceptible is there.

As I say,if you have not had the virus and think it's a 'cold',well I think you are an idiot.

Maybe this, wash your hands, don't spread germs, wear a mask, stay at home if you're sick, think of there's stuff is onto something... Think it'll catch on?

"we have got to go through flu season yet "
. And after the flu season it will be time to hide away next march same as this year. Keep hiding there’s always the danger of the next possible spike if you dare venture out in the big nasty world. Then there’s always the danger of those buses roaming around trying to kill you. Hide hide hide, you know it makes sense.

Smart people don't need to hide, there's a third option.

Pity some are too stupid to see it.
