You may have more GP's, nurses etc available, here in Cornwall, we only have one major hospital near Truro. We also don't have loads of surgeries or nhs dentist either. | |||

The patients to care homes was a big mistake and demonstrates how quickly this virus can spread and kill. thousands of non care home people have also been I affected and died so it's not just care homes at risk.I'm afraid the figures I gave are the official figures. France has over 7000 new cases per day and warning of a new full lockdown It’s a well known fact that the government fudged the original numbers... that’s one argument. Chucking vulnerable elderly patients back into care homes with DNR orders is another. As for France! Ha!! Don’t even get me started- I have my own serious issues with France and that is a whole other thread. (I have french family and a lot of my client base is french, so have a lot of information and opinion on the subject). I’m actually surprised they haven’t started protesting yet though. I am thinking that Macron did such a good job of squashing the last uprising, they have absolutely exhausted the will of and support for the french protesters for now. Couldn’t even get the decency of a phone call from my GP. I am lucky enough that I was able to afford to go private and get it sorted out. I feel so sorry for people who can’t afford to do anything about their problems right now. It’s absolutely disgusting x I have had over 7 phone call consultations with my GP, also one face to face consultations with her, blood taken by the nurse 2 or3 times, 2 phone call consultations with 2 different consultants, a scan and also respiratory tests in hospital. And yet people still believe in the pandemic. It’s absolutely astonishing. It's good to hear your local hospital has no cases. Sadly its not the case all over. At present just under 800 people are hospitalized with it and over 70 on a ventilator. That's post lockdown. At the height 20000 people were hospitalized with several hundred o ventilators. Well over 40000 have died. Of those that survive in hospital quite a few suffer life changing conditions like kidney failure ect. The more people mingle the more get infected and hospitalized and die hence the lockdown. Relieving lockdown is hard enough without mass gatherings. We could end up going back into restrictions. France has over 7000 new cases per day and warning of a new full lockdown It’s a well known fact that the government fudged the original numbers... that’s one argument. Chucking vulnerable elderly patients back into care homes with DNR orders is another. As for France! Ha!! Don’t even get me started- I have my own serious issues with France and that is a whole other thread. (I have french family and a lot of my client base is french, so have a lot of information and opinion on the subject). I’m actually surprised they haven’t started protesting yet though. I am thinking that Macron did such a good job of squashing the last uprising, they have absolutely exhausted the will of and support for the french protesters for now. But as I said- That’s another conversation for another time!! When you say they fudged the figures do you mean more people died or less? . It’s absolutely astonishing. its for sure been a pain, im amazed you hospital is nr empty, ive been waiting for an op on my knees, but they keep putting it off, i think alot of it is that the staff are scared i may be infected, and i understand that, its frustrating, but we all have to make sacrifices in this difficult time, im sure they will get around to it when they can, the one that made me laugh is my surgeon and i had an apointment for me to see him, but it was changed to a phone call, how can an orthopedic surgeon tell anything over the phone I had a slipped disc a few months back- I was in crippling pain- literally crying with it. Couldn’t even get the decency of a phone call from my GP. I am lucky enough that I was able to afford to go private and get it sorted out. I feel so sorry for people who can’t afford to do anything about their problems right now. It’s absolutely disgusting x I have had over 7 phone call consultations with my GP, also one face to face consultations with her, blood taken by the nurse 2 or3 times, 2 phone call consultations with 2 different consultants, a scan and also respiratory tests in hospital. I am now on the 2 week cancer (for the 2nd time) appointment scheme (can't think of it's correct name)waiting for more tests, so people are able to get appointments to see GPs, consultants, nurses etc. you are lucky, i also have cancer, no sorry had cancer recently, but still need a close eye on me, ortopedic problems and epilepsy, and i cant get to see anyone" I'm being tested for cancer, i don't know if i have it or something else, via the scheme where patients have to be seen (in person) within 2 weeks. Since lockdown i have found it a lot easier to see my GP, have phone call appointments and face to face appointments, nurses appointments, blood tests, scans plus several different tests within hospitals. | |||

" I don't think there is anyone who'd seriously suggest that as a viable course of action. It clearly isn't acceptable and anyone trying to say it is is either stupid or trolling. Unfortunately, the elderly and vulnerable are at high risk if they become infected, so the only real answer is to see that they don't become infected. For those in care homes that shouldn't be difficult - proper testing of staff, proper cleanliness/PPE and limiting visitors should be enough to manage the risk. It's more difficult for those in the wider community. Sadly there's little option for them other than to continue 'shielding' until a vaccine or treatment is found. How strict they choose to be about that is a personal decision for each individual - there is no one answer for everyone as there's a need to balance practicality, physical health risk and mental health risk. We as a society should support our vulnerable as best we can but we must also allow the rest of our population to live & work normally - both for the economic survival of the country and for the mental wellbeing of the population as a whole. For most, the risk of covid is small. We seem to have forgotten that. | |||
