Paul Romer is a Nobel prize winning economist. His ideas on a way of opening up economies are really worth listening to if we want to find a way out of this mess and a return to normal life- especially if only half the population want to be vaccinated and we are starting to see a rise in numbers of people being affected by ‘ long haul’ COVID-19 ie long term effects.

He is on many platforms especially You Tube.

Continuous targeted mass testing is the only way to restore confidence to the economy.

What are people’s thoughts ?

I wouldn't mind getting tested regularly.

I told my sister I'd get tested before going to see my newborn niece for the first time and that she should ask other family members to do it too if they wanted to visit but she told me I was being ridiculous...

The only problem is that at the moment you can't get tested unless you're showing symptoms. Of course you could always lie but then it's a question of ethics. Tricky.

By mass testing you will essentially get to almost elimination. Good for both health and the economy.

I certainly would not prioritise the economy over health and this is what Paul Romer realised- you have to stamp/ suppress this virus to allow the economy to prosper.
