My best guess is that, when they didn't know what they were dealing with, it was a prudent idea.

Now they do know what they are dealing with, and have an indication of infection rates and hospitalisations, they think they won't need them.

"so need to to panic then after all hey, a mild second wave coming up! "

Given that the majority are now following guidelines about distancing and masks, alongside a somewhat slicker testing programme than we had at the start, I'd say this 'second wave' shouldn't have too many surprises in store.

I make no claims to having inside knowledge or being an expert in virology though.

The government is concerned, they haven't ruled anything out.

It's just that the NEC hospital was not really used the first time round, so even if we had another spike it may not be needed again. Even if it was needed, it can be set up again very quickly as the infrastructure is already there.

I don't think they over reacted

I think they didn't act fast enough

When it was all kicking off in China and Italy they should have locked the borders down and introduced tighter rules on incoming flights

Oh i seen what was happening in italy i watched on bbc as they showed a scene inside one of their icu wards.....

But heres the problem....

2 days later i watched sky news as broadcast the exact same scene (the same as in literally the same) only this time saying new york icu ward.

What about the hundreds of thousands of people who got sick and or had symptoms? Did they need a test to know they were sick?

No they didn’t, they felt sick or had symptoms *before* they did a test.

A virus deadly enough where it killed 40,000+ in the UK within 3-4 months.

A virus deadly enough where half a million people suffer from ‘long covid’ with the after effects lingering on for months.

40,000k plus (which if you seen reports yesterday is going to be recalculated because covid deaths where going on death certificates it shouldnt have) in 9 months lets get it right.

As reports say it was here in December.

40k deaths out of 70 million in 9 months.

Doesnt sound like a deadly virus to me where the whole country should be locked down, buisnessess destroyed, peoples mental illness not looked after, no education for kids for nearly half a year.

And if that 40k number does get reduced because of wrong data and deaths being put as covid where it shouldnt have id love to see the real numbers compared to deaths from non treated cancer patients, heart diseases, suicides.

I think there maybe be little between the 2 numbers overall.

Not sure where you are gettimg your data but it was reported just a few days ago we are no into the 6th week running were deaths are under a 5 year average.

And stop calling people selfish, and stop inboxing me to say im selfish.

There is no denying the facts that people have died because of lock down, so does that make you selfish for wanting it?

What makes the deaths caused by lock down any less significant that the deaths caused by covid?

Do you have kids?

Will you be letting your kid have the nassle flu mist vaccine this year?

If so you better make sure you that they dont leave the house for a week afterwards as they will be shedding upto a week but i bet hundreds of parents will happily take their newly vaccinated kids around the supermarkets spreading and shedding flu around to anyone thats vulnerable without a second thought.

Hope you will be as quick to call those people out as selfish

"

The government completely misunderstood the use of these temporary hospitals

They where put to good use in Asia by admitting people showing symptoms and keeping them there.

Containing the virus to these centers and lowering the r0 number in the wider community.

Instead they have been white elephant and a waste of money in the uk

There was a clear example shown to work in Asia they could have followed. No excuses but bozo Boris will find one.

It didn't have to be man made or engineered, the bat lady's 10 plus years studies found 12 seperate coronavirus strains that can infect humans and attach to human lung cells with ease, it was a case of which one would come first.

Now did it escape from a bl4 lab is an entirely different question

Spot on, it's all about controlling the population & culling the most vulnerable.

The majority of people are likely immune to the virus anyway.

Notice it's not been seen to affect the homeless who by their very lifestyle would be open to suffer at the sharp end of any viral epidemic?

The homeless tend to be socially distancing on a regular basis prior to the virus.

-----------------

No it was 40k + recorded deaths in the first 3-4 months of the pandemic.

It is deadly enough to have killed so many within a short space of time. Hospitalisation was increasing rapidly which is why we had to lock down.

Less people are dying now because when we came out of locked down we have measures like social distancing etc to control the virus. Without lock down and these current measures the death toll would be much higher.

The Birmingham Nightingale as with London is designed to deliver ICU style treatments. The issue with them both, plus Harrogate and Glasgow was a lack of the required clinical specialists to operate wards with ventilated patients. As an example, London had the consultants and surgical cover to open 1.2 a ward (15 beds) out of 700.

The only model that worked was Manchester’s step down hospital. It was essentially used to clear those recovering post ICU from the wards and also to take those infected from the care system. In reality the other nightingales should have been based on this model.

Aye they had seen how china build them big hospitals from scratch and thought how can we do it faster...they didn't take a lot of the practicality into consideration like staff.

But hey we showed the world what china can do...we can do faster eh

Definitely, we had 4 patients delivered after the 7th day of construction but in honesty it was a PR stunt, it was a further 3 weeks before any serious patient numbers arrived x

"Perhaps it can be used as an exhibition centre. Wouldn't that be a thing eh."

That would be nice as then maybe i could get some work!! ( heading to 6 months without work or any financial support)

The problem with the nightengales was that they did over react. They spent millions on the excel one for how many patients? 42 thats how many! and then they built countless more.

Bearing in mind that it only took a few weeks to set it up I think they should have set one up and when that started to get busy set up another one.

There’s a reason behind the 42, they only had enough specialists to man 15 beds out of their 700 ventilated provision.

There was a need for the Excel, it would have been far more heavily used if possible but all decisions on patients have to be based on their safety. The need was to

The whole “we need more ventilators” drive at the start of the pandemic was flawed... it’s a bit like saying we needed more fighter planes in the Battle of Britain when in reality the shortfall was also critically for pilots.

Ventilators need specialist teams, they need surgical provision, they also need the highest grade of Anaesthetists and they need them present 24/7. That provision was fully deployed to the nations hospital trusts, there was very little available to the Nightingale’s.

I suspect if they are ever brought back to life they will all change role to step down hospitals where what is essentially a field hospital can be run by a makeshift or limited skills staff.

It was a scare tactic

So they build those hospitals in my opinion to make the public scared to confine to the Rule.

Because already the NHS are struggling to fill its jobs position

So who was meant to run Nightingale..

And if another wave supposed to come surely the last thing you should do is dismantle it

hiding from cock pics.

I don't really understand how they ever expected to get enough staff to be able to run the Nightingale's efficiently.

Surely they would have had to consider that before finalising a plan?

"Those who say the government overreacted when dealing with this pandemic obviously didn’t see what was happening in Italy.

Oh i seen what was happening in italy i watched on bbc as they showed a scene inside one of their icu wards.....

But heres the problem....

2 days later i watched sky news as broadcast the exact same scene (the same as in literally the same) only this time saying new york icu ward.

Make of that what you will.

A virus that is so deadly that people have to be tested to even know if they have got it or had it.

A virus so deadly that media had to share same video not once not twice but three times each time reportimg sating it was an icu unit in a different country.

A virus so deadly you literally hace a 99.9 % chance of surviving

***“.....A virus that is so deadly that people have to be tested to even know if they have got it or had it....“***

Facts 65k more people have died than this time last year

Recalculating his fiddling stats

65k additional people have died and 65k more funerals, and families impacted

So selfish

Suppose you don't social distance

Hope you will be as quick to call those people out as selfish"

Fact check!

Nasal or any other flue vaccine is NOT LIVE so cannot shed or contract from it.

Time to stop making stuff up and join the real world?

"Oh and out of a population of 66million just 303,000people have tested positive .

Duding 2 months of 2019 .. January to March ... 135,000 people died!!!

These figures are on NHS website !! "

And only 46,000 people have died , but the cure has cost nearly double that in lost jobs already and according to one report in the times it is expected that unemployment will rise to 3 million once the government support for workers ends as company's can't afford to keep workers on or the company goes bust. Who would of thought that virgin airlines would of been file for bankruptcy rolls royce laying off staff and countless other businesses closing for good

Fact check on the live ATTENUATED flu vaccine. Attenuated = weakened.

Quote: "It is known that vaccinated children shed the virus for a few days after vaccination (through sneezing or coughing). However, the vaccine virus is weakened, and so it is much less able to spread from person to person than flu viruses that circulate during the flu season, and it cannot grow inside the body. The amount of virus that children shed is normally below the levels needed to pass on infection to others. The virus does not survive for long outside the body."

And how many would have died without the steps that were taken?

What constitutes an acceptable number?

Id check your fact checking because you just made yourself look stupid.

The nasal mist flu vaccine DOES contain the live virus and whilst it is a weakened virus it is still live and children will still be shedding.

So weakened or not if you have kids and they have this nasel flu vaccine then keep them indoors for a weak and not to go see granny.

Everyones immune systems will be at an all time low come this winter with all this face covering and not looking after ourselfs with cutting out all that processed food crap people shovel into their bodys daily.
