Means nothing it is the infection rate that matters, less deaths because we are dealing with it better.Catching it can still ruin your life do not get complacent please

Why does the infection rate matter?

The pathogen will progress through a population in its normal manner until herd immunity (natural or a vaccine) is reached. Anything else is just changing the rate of spread. Infections and cases are immaterial the only thing that matters is hospitalisation and excess deaths, the latter being below the 5 year average for six weeks now.

It can be argued that the more young people, who are mostly not affected, who catch the virus the better as they will contribute to the herd immunity count. The lockdown debacle that is causing thousands of collateral deaths (routine NHs treatments and tests not being done together with the thousands who will die because of the economic collapse) - no one seems to be bothered about them at all even though they will eventually surpass CV19 deaths by a large margin.

Just wait for the coming economic storm; all this has to be paid for and guess who will be paying.

And if people are really so concerned about excess deaths why haven't they stopped driving their vehicles and ordering stuff online as air pollution kills far more every year. Are these, preventable deaths, somehow lesser deaths?

Less deaths is NOT good news? Which is what this post is about. But. The other way around is that it doesn't matter how many people are infected by it as long as very few are dying from it !!

The infection rate has gone up in many areas and still fewer people dying - that is nothing BUT good news.

There are more methods of avoiding deaths caused by covid-19. But remember the other effects of the virus will leave people suffering for a long time.

But yes the decrease in the rate of deaths is good news.

It means everything. More people being infected with fewer deaths is the best possible scenario. Many viruses mutate into weaker forms because that makes them better at infecting more people ie the virus does not want to kill us just spread to as many people as possible

The only solution to a virus like this is herd immunity which will either come from a vaccine or natural immunity, so more cases with less deaths is actually the path we need to follow.
