thats may not be as dramatic as it sounds...

it may be just that a particular hospital are diverting people away due to circumstances so its an alert for the public not to call 999 unless absolutely necessary..

weston-super-mare nhs trust for example did the same thing a few months ago when half there A&E staff when down in a suspected covid outbreak so they had to close it down

i know that at least one london nhs trust has done the same thing....

Its on BBC. Doesn't seem to change anything and is a formality to trigger certain responses from the Police, local councils and other agencies.

Nowhere in Liverpool is under increased lockdown. Halesowen and Knotty Ash have enhanced testing implemented due to a spike, but nothing different applies in those areas than any other area of Merseyside. Yet.

There was an article this morning in the Mail from a professor who pointed out that the number of tests in the North West had increased over the same period and the number of increased positives had gone up in line with the number of tests, so actually there is no spike. This will become apparent when the number of hospital admissions and deaths doesn't rise.

I had heard that many of the increases are to do with increased testing as now you dont even need to have symptoms to get a test

Where can you find confirmed numbers for hospitalisations? I'm getting deaths from World meter, ons or gov site. But they don't have hospitalisation details.

If you Google CEBM or Carl Haneghan it should take you to the centre for evidence based medicine website... there you find hospital admissions chart for England based on official stats... but be prepared to start asking what's going on... just prior to the weekend hospital admissions for Covid were running at around 70 per day... and flat... no rises.. and that's in a population of 55 Million for England... what are we doing...?
