if its a package holiday and the government says you can't go you get your money back. Flight only is a different matter...i think.

If you cancel then you will be liable for cancellation charges. Wait for the company to cancel and give you your options

Wait it out.

Yes you’ll sweat but they want you to cancel and charge you.

Let them cancel it and you’ll get a full refund - eventually.

I feel for you its a total minefield we are due to fly to ibiza in September with on the beach, who you can't phone and they also make it really hard to email. Both myself and hubby have been told if we go and have to quarantine we won't be paid.

But we have to play the waiting game has if we cancel we loose our money we have to wait for them to cancel them apparantly fight to get our money back.

I’ve had the same from on the beach. Took them 2 weeks to reply to a message I sent. I’m still non the wiser on where I stand with my holiday.

Tricky one, Jet2 cancelled our holiday which was booked last year a couple of weeks ago and full refund was in my account within 10 days so I cannot fault them - looks like the situation with Spain is a bit different and changing quite rapidly but I'd hang on and see what happens. If you cancel standard Jet2 terms apply and you won't get the flights refunded and only a portion of hotel money.

If you are not desperate to rebook something with that money, I would wait. The UK safe country list is updated weekly and potentially more frequently if the government decides to, as they did on Saturday, for Spain.

Waiting also gives time for the travel company to change or cancel it. If you decide not to pursue travel that is still available, then you potentially lose your rights to anything. Insurance cover may or may not be valid for a claim too.

I’m going to risk it in early August but I’m not sure if much will be going on.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't feel safe when the virus hot spots are near Barcelona not in Ibiza. Secondly assuming you are actually an athletic 53 year old and not a 'fab' athletic 53 year old, then you have very little to worry about from coronavirus anyway.

Probably because its the spanish summer holidays now and just like anyone else they go away on holiday Ibiza being very popular with spanish youngsters too.

get your self on a plane bet bottled water will be a bit cheaper than 15 euro this year if no one is going and might even get into some clubs without queuing to much.

Can not believe in the current climate that so called educated people with a brain I hope are still trying to book holidays abroad.

It beggars belief.

Why not stay at home for a bit we have a beautiful country go out and see it.

Yes the weather, bit shit.

But we are in the middle of a pandemic

And you are happy to quarantine for 2 weeks upon your return?

Yeah I think best advice is hang on and grit your teeth. Booking holidays abroad at the moment is very risky activity and should come with a government warning. If you cancel there will be charges. If jet2 cancel you get your money back.

Spain is currently on do not travel list unless essential so technically your holiday cannot go ahead as it stands, but the ban is to be reviewed and jet2 take the view that by then flights may resume in which case your holiday will go ahead. If at that point you decide not to go then I'm afraid it's you that will lose all your money or you can of course cancel and take the medicine if done with reasonable notice I guess.

You could always book the hotel and pay when you get there

Can cancel 48 hours before

Get the flight at last minute should everything be ok

Fingers crossed

I thought this too ... Would it hurt to miss a foreign holiday just once ? Once ? .. I mean stay somewhere in the UK .. it won't hurt you . The situation around the world is unpredictable right now . I really don't understand this desperation to go abroad ..
