Local Lockdowns

Northampton Somewhere

First Leicester, a few clusters up north look likely to follow suit. Luton ~ gyms, pools weren't allowed to open today as planned and people have been told not to gather in large groups etc.

Northampton looks wobbly as well with numbers rising

Just found out my local pub is 'temporarily closed' due to a member of staff testing positive They weren't taking track and trace information etc, so that's a worry.

Has anyone else had an 'issue' right on their doorstep?

No gyms/pools allowed to open. Not that far from Luton. Still got a high infection rate. Last month was in the top 5. Council still advising only go out if neccessary and stay 2m apart.

I live near a pub that doesn't seem to be doing distancing, but I've not seen anything definitive. I'm concerned. (Independent Sage yesterday classed Manchester as medium risk)

"A few wetherspoons near me dont seem to be asking to fill a form in...but also a few have told me in pubs that do ask, they give a false name. We are fecking doomed with the tracing I think "

I walked in to 2 wetherspoons in Central Manchester last week and there was no mention of track and trace from staff. There was a tiny table with firms and a box that I found but nobody was filling them in. I'm sure it's their company policy to give it no highlight there.

I read of another pub that had a couple of people infected and had closed for a while.

The pubs should have been told to demand ID, not just rely on peoples honesty.

No ID, no entry.

I also think any pub that 'doesn't bother' should be fined and have their license revoked.

And all that from a bloke who thought his pubs should be exempt from lockdown, then sacked all his staff whereby they couldn't claim furlough. The bloke is a fecking joke

I wish people, including businesses, would take it more seriously (I'm not blaming the regular staff for the most part, this is beyond their pay grade. I mean management). If we all* knuckle down and do what we need to do, we can get our lives back sooner. And work on the economy.

* all includes the government. Well.

I will believe it when it happens.

There was a list published pre Leicester lockdown, non of these cities or towns have been officially locked down.

There's no dodgy places near to me yet. But there will be.

Boris says there won't be a national lockdown. He won't need to, there will be so many towns, villages and cities locked down and narrow corridors between them all with 'free' people roaming around.

Our constituency never took this thing seriously from the start and I doubt that they will start now. Shame really as the population of white, obese, antivax, antimask right wing fundamentalists is huge here and they are all at risk.

It's weird to me. I've not really changed what I started doing back in March. Don't need a government to tell me. Wash loads, if I have to meet other wear a mask and keep distance and do it outside as much as possible. Hopefully it helps keep me and mine safe. The fact we have wankers giving none or false information or not locking down when symptomatic is just mind boggling. It's not that hard and we all need to do our bit and support each other.

It appears that a lot of pools won't be able to reopen due to the limited numbers of people able to use them.

somewhere only i know!

I’m slap bang in the middle of 2 towns that are high risk, 1 of which may go on lockdown on Monday/Tuesday if they don’t get cases down yet the company I work for have a branch there and I asked what would happen if the town went on lockdown to very senior management and was told “as long as the shopping centre open then we are”! We’ve also been told not to challenge customers not wearing masks as they might have underlying health conditions that we can’t see and that we don’t want to cause upset and to think about our safety 1st, well to me that would be to not let them in without a covering but what do I know, I’ve only been back in work for 10 weeks and have seen and heard it all, been spat at, threatened in a daily basis but hey ho it’s life right now

Quite the opposite for Chesterfield. We have an extremely low infection rate and an even lower chance of an outbreak. Fingers crossed other places can get to that point aswell

We are in Accrington, in between the hotspots of Blackburn and Pendle, such a shame to see a large majority of the Asian community have total disregard for the lockdown, unfortunately now paying the price as are the people who did follow the rules.

I agree with this. Likewise have been washing hands whenever possible, have a tub of hand gel in a pocket as well. I've not used masks apart from a visit to the Dr. I've managed to do most of my work socially distanced or in some cases remotely to avoid having to visit. If I have to go to the shops, I go when I know they're quiet and always keep a good 2m away from anyone all the time.

Looking at some of our holiday towns & villages now overrun with tourists with little to no social distancing. It's unbelievable that people can be so stupid. I've even overheard arguments outside restaurants (hadn't booked a table) where they're being refused entry due to distancing inside and I heard them trying to argue that the restaurant wasn't full as they could see empty spaces through the window

Wouldn't want to see it, but I wouldn't be surprised if we end up with a County lockdown

I have been into 2 local pubs and they were both spot on ,asking for my details. The only issue I had is I never saw a member of staff cleaning the outside tables and my cutlery was handed too me ,think my preference would of been clean cutlery wrapped in servette .Would like to see staff wearing masks or visors as the staff will spread it too each other and then pass it onto family. This is how it all starts .

This isn't a Racism thing far from it ! It's just a matter of fact of how some communities have behaved with a blaise attitude towards this. Yes we have our own idiots too. To be fair we have visited a few pubs and restaurants since they reopened and found they have been on the ball with their efforts to keep everybody safe and still provide a good experience.

So, given that people need to quarantine for 14 days returning from Spanish islands, why isn't there quarantine for those travelling in and out of local lockdown areas ?

I agree and you got to call it as you see it. There's a Story (well OK, choose your media and filter the messages) but a story in Luton where the mayor is seen at a house party with community leaders most breaking social distancing etc... But haven't seen a Campaign to have them kicked out of office (nor do I think it's necessarily the correct response) I guess it's just an example of police being scared to police for fear of response.

We can do this if we just apply a bit of sense and work together... Stronger together

Yes agreed, The facts are there but it is a very touchy subject and one we tried to approach carefully, especially in these strange times. We just hope its a lesson learnt locally and all communities behave in a responsible manner and we can avoid it happening again.
