Epsom

with a virus on the loose... How hard can this be?

Just found out the company i was temping for and hoping to get a permanent job with have put all their recruitment on hold until no idea when, and I am not needed as of yet, doubt it will be this year...

I hate job hunting at best of times, aside from retail anyone have any tips advice words of encouragement etc.

I actually feel my heart sink at the mere thought of having to go through this all again...

I got made redundant when the banks crashed and I found it hard to find employment.

I did all sorts of weird and unrelated jobs before getting back into IT, but I was determined not to let it beat me.

Stay open minded and grab any opportunity that comes your way, it keeps food on the table and it's far easier to get a job you actually want if you are already working.

In this current climate it is looking for the companies that are expanding due to the crisis. Most companies have either put recruitment on hold. My company started by shedding jobs through natural wastage but that has not been enough so they are now making redundancies .

Jezus, that is a hell of a lot of applications. I have had interviews before and they have said they had over 300 applicants.

TBH I have struggle to find work since 2013, I seem to find a job stick at it them somethings happens so I am no longer needed etc. I even went to uni in 2014 to attempt to better my options

my firm jst made 20 redundancys im one of the lucky ones who have been kept on but have been warned they will be looking again when furlough end.like someone above said take anything you can at the momment qs it lot easier to find something else if your already working than qhen signing on

If you have a good grade, you could return to uni and do a 2 years masters in nursing. You will never be out of work after.

Yes jobs are scares feel for the young generation daughter just finished uni with a 2:1 degree in law but no companies recruiting say she will just try to get anything that's going in short term

For the short term try temping. It hurts dropping to the bottom of the pay rate pile but it's a job. Don't try and hold out for a salary and conditions you had for now.

Pull in the spending cancel what you can. It's easier to get a job when you have a job sounds daft but it's true.

I was tempting... was hoping the role would go permanent alas they don’t need me as a temp or perm

Might jump ship and set up a business, it’s clear the rat race doesn’t want me

Opportunities can arise in strange places.

I've got a small profitable business selling hobby products.

Its not making me millions, but as a sideline to my main income its gives me a sufficient profit each month with the minimum of input from myself.

It's not a good time for job security. I'm redundant in a week, the company is going from 150 staff to 35.

All the websites like indeed and cv library, total recruitment etc use screening tools for recruitment companies. Change a couple of words in your cv and update it on those sites weekly. It'll put you on the top of the screening list. Sometimes i just change a word spacing and upload it again with the current date. Try to use key words in your cv that you see in job adverts so you stand out for the screening algorithm to find.

My mate works for the DWP and said it's the most successful way of being noticed. Get noticed and they'll look further into your suitability.

Do you search internationally ? Most big companies will let you work mostly from home is it doesn’t really matter where the job is. So many people I know newer think to search internationally and so massively cut down the opportunities
