It's not a mask, it's a face covering. Masks were deemed useless right through. So relieved this virus has changed into big particles as the thin scarves etc are going to do the job

Shop owners can refuse anyone, mask or not. There will be people refusing to wear them, probably with their mates filming them so they can cause an argument and get their video on Facebook.

Despite a full on TV communist China style "you must conform to the new normal"propaganda push this morning.

I've Just got back from sainsbury, 70/30 against, hardly any staff wearing them.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again UK will never become a clone nation of the CCP.

The mask farce is nothing to do with covid spreading. I do hope all the pro maskers are going to obstain from pubs, bars, hair salons and gyms, in the risk of catching hyporisism, no thought not

Although I too don't believe that masks will make much difference, the science is based around the fact that the virus isn't airborne. It is transmitted in the droplets of moisture in your breath. This moisture gets trapped in the fabric of a mask and so reducing the spread.

Hair salons are insisting on masks but hopefully the fines from non mask wearers will go some way to bringing much needed cash in.

Nothing changed in the local Tesco this morning maybe only 5% of people had a mask on at a guesstimate. All the big shops have said they will not be enforcing the rules or challenging people and it’s not like the police will be standing on the doors (in fact many forces have said they will not respond to calls about non mask wearing) I don’t see anything changing any time soon ..

If this is the case I would expect the next step would be fines for the retailers who don't enforce it.

Not masks...face coverings.

Not everyone.. there are exceptions. My disabled friend can't wear a mask type covering. We have got him a visor though.

Not everywhere. If you are eating or drinking in the establishment

Why do people feel they need it enforcing. Wearing a mask protects others I’ve been wearing them for a while as I’m not selfish.

The amount of selfish people astound me and I wish it was compulsory. It is in the nhs unless medical exemptions

Well said, it's all about population control.

To put this into perspective, previous generations have taken a stand for womens rights, defended the country against invasion, had child labour stopped, campaigned for nuclear disarmament, battled for gay rights and workers rights and safety.

2020 has given us people whining about having to wear a paper mask.

Pathetic.

Just written this on another thread.

I've just been in town for a hour and wore mine there and back. No issues for me personally, just a bit hot! Makes me feel a bit safer too. I'm in the habit of having my hand sanitizer in my jacket pocket now so I can pick up the mask habit too.

Oh dear. I was just listening to the radio and the body that represents convenience stores has advised its members not to police the wearing of masks. She's got confused hasn't she.

I don't blame them for that advice either, I don't think that someone who is probably on a fairly low wage needs to be put in that position.

Just been to the local supermarket,it was busy as usual

All staff on the shop floor were wearing masks and every customer I saw in store had masks too

The only people that didn't have one on were the checkout staff, but they have big screens in front of them so was expected.

Was so glad to see that people(despite the online rubbish) are actually listening and aren't selfish!!

Just been to Meadowhall and all but 2 people were wearing masks, there were signs everywhere about wearing a face covering.

It’s the first time I’ve risked shopping for all but essentials since lock down, it’s the mask wearing that’s given me the confidence to do so.

I felt very safe in Meadowhall. One way system that the majority were adhering to. Hand gel everywhere and traffic light system for shops. Such a lovely experience, infact I preferred it to the pre lockdown free for all.

a 100quid? you are getting off lightly. people found not wearing a mask on public transport and shops without a health reason will be fined two and a half and/or six months in jail here in Ireland. already some far right scumbags been arrested and plastering the "injustice" of being asked to wear a piece of cloth over their mouth and nose all over social media

That's what we should be doing and should have done ages ago.

Our £100 fine is only £50 8f you pay it promptly.

Probably costs more than that to administer the damn thing.
