My grand daughters 1st birthday on Saturday and a party in the garden with quite a few households there

Would you attend

Not sure if it’s worth the risk or even if it’s allowed

its very hard as I've had to miss two birthdays but its not worth the risk and I'm pretty sure its not allowed.

Up to 30 people allowed, and wouldn't miss it for the world if it was me, unless I had serious health issues, the risk is tiny,

I'd probably attend although might limit my time there, subject to how things were. If there's a lot of space being kept between people it would be safer and with an outdors setting it should be much safer than indoors

If you can go to a pub with up to 30 people in the garden then I don't see any reason why not (not saying you go to pubs btw) as long as you stick to guidelines, its my son's 18th birthday in two weeks, I will be popping by, won't stay long but wouldn't miss it.

Are we invited then?

Will there be jelly and ice cream?

I would definitely go if I were you. Outside activities carry minimal risk and feel good events like this are definitely good for everyone

Depends on the weather. No issues with small gatherings outside but would not wish to sit in the pouring rain.

It’s not all close family

There will be about 6 households with people there I don’t know anything about

I also work with customers every day in a shop so would hate to take anything with me

I want to go but I’m worried

Help me out here.

There are NHS advice lines.

There are local authority advice lines.

There are government websites.

You, on the other hand, are asking for advice about a complex public health issue on a swingers website.

You might want to ask yourself a few hard questions.

I have grandsons and was one of my grandsons birthday in April.... i went but didn't stay long and i am high risk. I would go if only for half an hour. As previous said, first birthday. If you feel uncomfortable just tell them, at least you can show your face. Good luck. Xx

You know what bother's me more than anything?

It's not that we live in interesting times and things are sketchy for everyone. It's that during all of this, some individuals just wanna piss on others for the sake of it.

Why should it matter what the venue or forum is? Who cares if this is a swingers site? A question was asked and it hurts no one to answer with their opinion rather than try to shut it down.

Personally speaking, from observation alone, Fab's forums have become increasingly hostile as of late. I get everyone is scared. I get everyone wants to be safe. I get we all need some common sense.

But for crying out loud, it's not what you say people, it's how you say it.

Unfortunately there are always those with a snotty response, best ignored...the forums are to spark discussion as well as get people's opinions on different things. Those opinions will differ, but people don't need to be rude to others. X

It's not that hard really, covid is still out there and numbers are still rising, feeling bad about missing is fine. But how bad will you feel if someone at the party gets sick due to being there. If your worried about it then I would say don't go. Have all the people you don't know, who are going, stayed safe and isolated? At the end of the day it's only a party and there will be loads more to come.

It's very hard at the moment, isn't it. My nephew, whom I'm very close to, has just become a new daddy. Baby was in hospital for a week with an infection, I'm desperate to meet her, but have a heavy cold, so won't go near her until I am better....I get daily photos of her though

No, it wont! He's thinking of doing a drive by, so I can at least peer through the window at her! I will wear a mask when I do see her. They are being careful and limiting the amount of people that are able to see her at the moment.

Sunniest Exeter...

OP, My 2 pennies worth is to ask yourself the question "would I regret not going?" Covid should be taken seriously, but it shouldn't dictate how you live your life. As others have said, this will be the only time he turns 1. Go, but take precautions as necessary. The positive benefits to your well-being having gone, will outweigh any potential risks. In my opinion.
