Part of the new thinking is that large swathes of the general public, here and around the World, have lost faith in being close to people outside or in public places like shops etc. So in a psychological sense need the 'boost of a mask' to make a tentative connection again.

If the World is going to get back to normal then people are going to need to be tempted, cojoled, legislated for even, to feel safer (and indeed be safer) outside of there own private space.

I for one noticed many weeks ago now that fewer and fewer people were wearing masks (some of my friends say they feel silly wearing them now because so few are).

But if people don't feel safe they will stay home. If others in public places like shops won't wear them those who want to will feel pressure not to, those who feel they are essential may not just go out as often as they could or would have liked to have done.

If the government legislate too - like on the underground and on buses etc - it may actually help those people in a very real way.

The economy and life-style we used to have has probably changed forever - if the economy is to get back to normal we need to help each other to be and feel safe in it.

We need to be sensitive to those people too and not blame them for their fears. Would you shout at a child after all if you are trying to help them change a 'learned behaviour'?

No matter what we all think - we are still in this together. Above all things

let's 'be kind'.

Tbh the thing that will get me out of the house is a sense of a government policy to control the virus.

Distancing helps, masks/coverings help, together they help more.

But that's offset by my sense that the government neither knows not cares what's going on and is sending us full steam ahead into a second wave.

All I can do, in this situation, is keep my disease vector backside at home.

3 or 4 years from now most ppl wont give 2020 a second thought.yea life is shit at the momment but its either gona be cured or die out or we just gona get on with our lives.unlike the more totaliterian countrys round the world we live in a world were you have free choice.would be unpolicable to make it law.they cant even enforce law properly in normal times.then again i suppose you could always marganalise big parts of society because that always works out well

Strange, as either localised or anecdotal but I am seeing far more mask wearers at the moment. I think we should all simply do what we can, in the way that we can and if mask wearing is one of those things then so be it.

I'm seeing very few mask wearers and I'm being stared at wearing mine.

Some countries are making mask wearing mandatory. I think they should do that here too.

I’ve noticed more people wearing masks when I’ve been out shopping, I’m not adverse to going out because of other people, it’s just with my children still mostly off school I don’t want to go to the shops as I much as I usually would if I was on my own, so we are mostly staying at home or the park still.

Folks have no choice regarding getting to work on public transport, however they have a choice of the hassle of going to the shops, more so with the blatant contridictions of no masks in pubs, bars and clubs, folks aren't stupid they can see it's because the media have done too good a job of scaring everyone shitless and now they can't get em out of the house

But now that we have that - we need to help to change it. If it means saying to people wear them in shops etc. It can't be all bad just to help them out of the door.

Also. Dentists and GP Practices. A&E are all insisting on masks. I had an MRI recently and was masked by staff before I could get into to the reception area. A friend of mine went for an ankle X-ray and was told to wear a mask & gloves on arrival otherwise they would not perform the X-ray.

The climate of fear - however derived - needs for all of us to help others to find a way back to the World.

The danger I see in mandatory masks everywhere is discrimination against those with medical conditions which mean they can’t wear them.

As someone who has severe asthma, I am exempt from wearing a mask on public transport. To make life easier I have got a landyard and tag from Hidden Disabilities to show my exemption. Yesterday I had to travel by train and the staff at the station were amazing. They saw the lanyard and offered help and assistance. They escorted me through the station rather than directing me the long way around the one way system with the other passengers.

On the flip side, I was refused service in the hairdressers when I explained that I can’t wear a mask because it would likely cause a bad asthma attack, possibly meaning that they would have to call the paramedics.

I rarely use public transport but my 15 yrs old daughter jumps on the bus as if there isn't a problem and I can understand that as at that age you don't worry about anything, I don't believe masks will make a difference unless in very close contact, I have never been a fan of crowd's so now I avoid them even more.

I find nature and the animal world much nicer.

I wear one at work, I do not want to wear one outside. I go out and walk, for excersise and fresh air. Breathing in the shit you should be breathing out is disgusting and, will make you ill
